Default laser eye surgery

Has anyone had laser surgery on their eyes to improve their eye sight?? Its something im considering having done. I've had badeye sitefor as long as i can remember. A few years back i tried out some contacts, when i walked out of the eye doctors and took a look around, it was a whole new world. buildings had square corners, street signs werent blurry, colours didnt blend into each other, trees had individual leaves.. it was incredible, i had no idea what the world around me was supposed to look like!! anyways the contacts bothered the hell out of me, and turned my eyes all red, and i look like a douche bag in glasses, so im opting for the surgery. For those of you that have had it done,
is it painful??
how much was it?
how long was recovery?
any long/short term effects?
recommended???

I am thinking of doing this but read some info that put me off, namely that no vision correction can guarantee 20/20 vision. I wanted to stop wearing glasses and contacts permanently and apparently it's unrealistic to expect those kind of results.

hahaha.. I've heard a lot of success stories.. like X said contact your eye doc, find out the side effects. I really dont think its very expensive anymore either.. its like an everyday procedure for some of these guys.. and i hear the recovery time is about one afternoon...

ive read that the success rate is almost gauranteed, not always 20/20 but a vast improvement. I was hoping some people here had it done and could chime in.

What is the point of vision correction if it isn't 20/20 or really really close?

I know more than one person that had it done and the correction was spot on. They all swear by it.

uhh... so you can have better vision than you already have? Nothing in this world is perfect my friend...

If you have really bad vision isnt anything better than what you have?

EDIT: glasses & contacts are correction in vision. If they didnt give you 20/20 you wouldnt wear them? your loss..

I would also be interested in hearing from anyone that had it done, Thinking about it also Fingers.

A guy here at GE got it done like 15 years ago or so(when technology wasn't even close to what it is now) and he said that he has never had any problems and has perfect vision. But I wouldn't base my decision on one person's results
