Default Ladies and Gentlemen...The Honda Insight

So I got to thinking this morning, maybe I should go ahead and trade my 2007 V6 Accord in for a Honda Insight while I can still get some decent trade in on my car (it's dropped around $5k in 1 year simply because of the engine...the 4cyl has decreased about $1.5k). Of course ,fuel prices are in mind as I think it's time for a trade in. Now I only put about $60 bucks a month worth into the car since I ride my bike most every day and I literally work only 1.4 miles from where I live. So it's not really a necessity right now, but I thought what the hell, it's only going to get more costly as gas prices go up, and I can probably just get the Insight for between $6-9k (as they're almost 10 years old now) then I wont' even have a car payment so another $400 a month can go towards something else.

But guess THE HELL what! The freakin Insight, a car that only cost around $18-$20k BRAND NEW off the showroom floor are now selling for AT LEAST $15k-$18k even with 100k miles on them. One car on ebay now has a BIN price of $1,000,000.

because they are on back order with most dearlerships. Just like oil SUPPLY AND DEMAND including the speculators (car owners)dictates the price.

There hasn't been a demand for these cars so the supply is low. Now that there is a demand for these cars and the supply is low, owners can set the price.

At $60 dollars a month, why bother ? Gas prices are up now, but times will change, and the devil you know is better than the one you don't................
I'd stick with the status quo........

Let your inner man out and get something fun that gets 10mpg . You can save a few bucks a month somewhere else.

The difference in an accord (which gets 21/31 city/hwy) and an insight (48/58) will save you over $1,200 per year

...about $2,400 per year if your replacing a pickup truck.

that can equal a lot of bike upgrades!

Personally, I really dislike the looks. I think I would rather opt for a Civic hybrid or even one of those SUV hybrids.

Or you could ride your motorcycle which already gets superior gas mileage as much as possible.
