KNEE SLIDES ON SUNRISE
i remember when i took my msf course and the instructor was talking about when people say , " i just couldn't stop" or " i had to lay it down" he said rarely is there ever a time you HAVE to lay it down if you really knew how to handle the bike.
im not trying to say you can't handle the bike but it just seems that with front brakes, rear brake and engine braking you should've been able to stop in time or atleast lane split and avoid the guy all together.
again not trying to start **** with you and i obviously wasnt there so i dont know the situation but this is the exact reason when im out on a road by myself i always practice emergency braking
glad though this story wasnt much worse and you and your bike are ok for the most part.

yeah, that sucked. As far as slightly touching his bumper, DUDE,Your F3 was wedged under the Merc. He was a tool. The traffic accident lady was a Tool as well. You did go out out afterwards for a pleasant 100+ mile trip to MIAMI, got give you credit! After my cart wheels in the park, I wanted to VOMIT and park her for a couple days. Good job you had on yer helmut as well. To bad your pink mohawk on top of the helmut got damaged. LMAO, thank god you really dont wear one of those. LMAO
i'll answer a couple of those questions for MAtt as I was there:
1-Tickets
1st-Expired Florida license, when he never was issued a Florida license. And that is when you get a ticket, in Matts case a couple of years ago, the state automatically issues you a D/l number, and it expired cause he didnt even know he had one.
2nd- failure to use due care
3rd-failure to display ins. In Florida we dont even need ins on bikes! hence the tool faktor of the traffic lady
and reference splitting lanes. He really just committed on the brakes, running out of room, it was hit the rear or lay it down. Correct me if I'm wrong Matt

no, your right on the money bro,[&:] it sucked hard due to the fact that i wasn't even speading, as for hardly ever having to lay it down, i took the msf
, it was the first time i have laid a bike down in years
, first crash that was my fault in 4 years, not that i get in crashes alot, i don't, i did b4 the msf, not now! As for layn it down, you just kinda do it, i basicly leaned it to the left so hard i throw it down [:'(]. OH WELL, its done and over with, now i just have to fix it, oh and the tool in the merc just called, asking if i would pay out of pocket if he brought me an esta! wow, i asked him to if he wanted to do that yesterday.

Damn that sucks bro. I would tell the guy with the Merc to lick *****. He probably wants the out of pocket now that he had a friend give him a jacked up estimate. He had his chance yesterday, now you have 3 tickets to pay for. Get yourself outa those tickets, and let the insurance hadle the rest, i doubt your policy will go up that much for one little fender bender.
Never lay it down. If your gonna hit something scrub as much speed as you can before you get there, and the only way to do that it to keep it on the wheels. Front brakes are your friend people, besides, if you grab too much front brake you're gonna low-side it anyway. Why ditch it early?
Let me make an amendment to what I said. If you are going to go over an elevated roadway (like a bridge) thenthat is the time to lay it down. Grab all the front brake you can and be ready to bounce, roll and and slide. That is the only timeI would ever ditch my bike intentionally.
Glad to hear you weren't hurt.
