so i had to do it. thats how i have to start.. i was riding with illumastar and blizzneck yesterday, about 6:30 7ish. coming up to a light, i didn't see the guy in front of me stop, at the point i saw i hit the brakes, nothing, so i hit um again, they lock up. still to hot, i hit the front brake, still to hot, 2 choices at this point, 1 hit him and fck my bike up really bad, or lay it down and deal with it after...................... you geussed it #2! laid that thing down and just slightly touched his bumber. so we pull over t the side of the road, check his damages as well as mine, he has like 20 dollars of damage,,,,,,,, i have like 2000. i say well go get a few estamets(sp) and i'll pay it, that way our rates don't go up, well he still calls the cops, they show up and are like, if he was willing to pay out of pocket why not do it? he keeps saying " got to be by the book" the officer looks at him and goes, " why, its just going to jack up your insure rates, i'd just let him pay for it out of pocket, less hassle." nope, so 3 tickets and a court date in the works, i am going to get screwed. which a few police officers i know don't think 2 of the 3 tickets will stick. but here in fl its a 50/50 shot in the dark, but we will see. oh yeah, i'm fine, nothing really big for my body damage, just a few brusies!!!i'll post up pics as soon as i take them.[:@][:'(][][>:][&o][:@][:@][:'(][>:][][:'(][:@][:-][&o][sm=chairshot.gif][sm=bustedsign.gif][sm=headbang.gif][sm=icon_beat.gif]

question for you all since i'm still new to riding. if you are in a predicament like that, how do u lay the bike down???

Dont lay your bike down. You have more stopping power up than you do laying over.

If you slightly touched his bumper if the bike was down than if you woulda kept it up I bet you woulda never hit the dude or probably just bumped the dude with your front wheel.

 

dude, the same thing happened to me last week. I was rolling up to an intersection to take a left, and the car in front of me stops right as soon as the light turned yellow, so when i went to hit my brakes i was in the center of the lane and i immediately lost control of the front, went down and slid underneath the car. The kid was driven a 2007 Accura, and it barely hurt his bumper, but me being me I would want my vehicle to be exactly how it was before i got hit, so paying to fix his damages was fine with me. A cop said that he had to fill out a report, but i didn't get a ticket and the kid is letting me pay it out of the pocket. So he brought me an estimate the other day which was $601! Jeeze, a few scratches and a little dent. My front fender is cracked, right and rear fairing are scratched up, and I broke of my bar ends. Im gonna get my neighbor to mix my fairings again, hes been doing body work all of his life and the last time he fixed my left fairing and it looked brand new when he was done. But, my bike was just cosmetically hurt so i was able to race this past weekend. Sucks that the guy had to do it by the book! Hope you get the tickets dropped!
