Kahuna calls it quits?
Let's face it, I'm getting older and I think it's time to grow up a bit and look at the big picture. I realized recently that family and friends are more important than any childish infatuation I have with motorcycles.
Today I sold my bike, and my remaining gear will be up on eBay within the week. I'll post a link to my auctions as soon as they go live so my good friends here will have first shot.
Thanks everyone for being my other family for all these years, but I think now it's time to retreat to the comfort of my real family.
Best wishes to all!

Well I am sorry to hear you are leaving the sport, good luck in your next adventure (whatever that may be) and I am sure you WILL be back eventually...it is impossible to kick the habit!!
Take Care!!

I find it utterly amazing that anyone could walk away from this sport!!! But family should rank first, and if biking interferes with family, it IS time to call it quits! I am lucky that my family embraces riding as much as I do and they encourage me to ride better and push myself to become an outstanding rider. Good luck with whatever the future may hold for you, I hope you find whatever it is you are looking for.
A wise man once told me "Never sell your toys." I did and regretted it. But that is the way of the world. Best of luck to you in your future endeavors. Family does indeed come first and is the only (and I mean only) reason I would consider giving up my bike.
And just because you don't have a bike doesn't mean you can't post -- noobs join here daily and have, well, noob type questions. So if you feel up to it impart some of your knowledge to someone that asks. Never know - you might save a life. Or a trip to the stealership.

A retired rider? That's BS. This isn't something that you can just quit. You know it's in your blood and one day you'll be back. You know that motorcycling is your drug and soon again, you'll be thirsting for a fix. Ahhh temptation. You'll break down one day after hearing a group of riders go by you while you're driving, or when you're in your backyard at night and you hear that 4 cylinder screaming high in the rpm's, or you sit with your family flipping through channels and get a glimpse of motorcycle races on tv. You'll never be able to tune it out. Face it, you'll be back!!!
Yeah, I know... It was an evil April fools joke!!!!
I will never lose my love for motorcycling. You all have brought out some good points and some personal reasons why I could never just stop riding!
