Default Just pondering tanks

After looking at all the beautiful and inexpensive cbr tank covers on e-b*y, I've been wondering if anybody has ever checked how they would fit on an older F bike? They might be a whole lot different - or they might not be. We know you can get a cover that fits from Hong Kong. Somebody must have tried. Anybody know? Thanks.

So is this the sort of thing you're thinking of?

Default Nope

When you look at the new cbr's you are not looking at a "gas tank" the way we think of it, you are looking at a shell.

ya.... they did that because the tank is completely different. the tank is taller and deeper towards the seat.... it doesn't even go to the front of the frame so adapting one to your bike would probably require a lot of work with respect to fitment of the tank-airbox-tank cover to where it'd be difficult to make it work with the carbs.

I guess I'm not being very clear. I don't want a new gas tank. I was just wondering how a new shell would look over my dented tank I have now.

it's clear enough... my point is it won't work unless you swap tanks as well - because the tank cover is meant to cover that kind of tank - not an older f-style tank

but i'm sure you could find some streetfighter covers for your tank instead. maybe gemo makes one.... but it definitely wouldn't look cbr-ish, it'd look like an alien

you could just buy a cheap one off fleabay and try to make it work. i've never seen it done, so you could be the first to give it a go

I haven't seen just a cover by itself but with the entire kit.from what I heard they fit really tight but once it's on it looks good.
