Is it just me?

Yay! It's not just me! Lol!

No surprise that I'm a bit of a Luddite, but it does seem that the technology of "immediate gratification" and texting has almost completely ruined social graces and manners.

There are givers and takers. Most are takers that only find the forum because they googled a cbr problem they are having and we came up. If they don't find a thread that gives the answer, they register and ask. Once they get a solution, they are done here as they are unable, or unwilling, to become a giver and help someone else. Sometimes a person with experience shows up and is compelled to share what they know and see the forum as a community. Those we like... But without the takers, there can be no givers. Without the givers, there is no forum. So we need them to keep us active.

As a community, we used to be better. There were more threads and things to be involved in other than just answering broken bike questions. There were joke threads, picture threads, music threads, meme threads, recipe threads, road trip threads, and threads just to communicate what's on the mind. It was fun. I don't know why things changed, but I suspect that forums being a strong form of social interaction has been replaced by all the newer platforms. Things just don't move immediately enough, i guess.

I would love to see the community grow again. I encourage everyone to put up some off topic discussions every now and then and get to know other members a little better.

That was the consensus on a few other forums I frequent. It's too bad but I also like knowing that the truly dedicated folks are still around!

Same here, man! Hell, I only had a flip phone until a couple years ago and that's only because the rest of my family is addicted to texting... and trying to just keep up on a flip phone is ridiculous...

And don't get me started on "streaming" music instead listening to a CD!!!

I think we need a "Cranky old geezer complaint" thread! 🤣

Works for me! But right now, it's almost 9PM, so I'ma get my delicious fiber drink down, yell at the kids walking by my house (I know they are up to something!) and head to bed! Lol!

Hmm, well, I can't really make excuses for the rest of the people around my age (20), but I do try to introduce myself. Sometimes though, I get really excited about seeing (and consequently asking) about someone's classic or their bikes and I have to remind myself to introduce. Not an excuse, I know. I'll get a few sentences off out of excitement and then end up apologizing for not introducing myself. To be fair though, looking at an absolutely beautiful work of machinery and engineering usually takes all thoughts away from introductions.

Welcome SB, with you joining from (hopefully sunny) Texas, you have pretty much single-handedly (along with SunBlue) halved the average age on the forum
Have you tried the 'twisted sisters' yet?
Anything can be forgiven when coupled with passion and excitement!!
