just let me vent
+1 on the hourly charge. Its 74.50 for ATVs and 88.50 for motorcycles an hour here. If they pull crap like that, them them fine. I will take the plug outand put the nailback in and wopnt charge you anything. Then see what they say!!!1 I hate people like that too. The order crap from me, send me pictures of whatever it may be, I get it to them and they say thats not what they wanted, even though thats what they sent me?!?!?!? I dont get some people!
I like being a cheapo and fixing stuff for as little as possible, but that comes from me liking to figure it out on my own and do the work myself.
However, if I have to pay to get something fixed or buy a part, then you can be damn sure I'm going to pay top dollar because if I can't fix it then I don't want some junk.

I totally see your point, but...
Out of curiousity, I checked locally to see prices of simply MOUNTING two new tires that I would have brought in (I already bought them)...
$156
They're out of their goddamned mind.

My shop at work charges $65 an hour, but if they have to do service in the field it bills at $85 and hour. $55 is more than fair especially if you cut it into 1/2 hours.
Well fellas, thanks for the replies and it's glad to see there are still people out there with common sense. I've got another question for you. When your bike is in the shop getting worked on, how long do you leave it there after the repairs are done? It seems like it does me no good at all to try and get the jobs knocked out because the bikes usually sit in the shop for two or more days.

If not then, thevery next day. To help solve that lingering problem ask them when they'll be realisticly picking up the bike. If they tell you they don't know say you don't know how long it'll take you to finish the job.
I can certainly see what your saying, but I will give you my experience with my honda dealer invloving an 04 Honda R-12x(personal watercraft). The machine was bought brand new. At about 12 hours of use it drops a valve. Take it back to the dealer and I say hey I got no compression in the #1 cylinder I at the very least floated a valve. They don't even examine it. They put a new driveshaft in it and say it's good to go. I had to pay for the driveshaft as it wasn't covered under warranty. I took the craft to the lake and sure enough same problem. I take it back and they "will look into it". Over the next 2 weeks I call 3 times and everytime I get "oh we were just getting ready to call you." Finally I lost it and went off on the service department. There response was "This is warranty work and honda has to approve it." That was fine, but Honda wasn't even contacted until later that day. I understand they are busy during the summer, but they failed to fix it the first time, so I should have been ahead of everyone when I brought it back. I have spent over 100,000 dollars at this dealer in the past 2 years. The service manager then asks me if I think I deserve special treatment because of that. I reply with if being treated right is special treatment then I guess I am. 2 months later and half the summer gone I get my watercraft back. We as powersports enthusiasts pay more than top dollar for anything from a dealer and most of the time we don't get what we pay for. I don't like to pay 75.00 an hour for labor and the dealer looks at me like he's doing me a favor?? WTF???
Sorry for the long rant, but sometimes the dealer rates are a little excessive for some of the tasks they preform. OH btw my watercraft was completely rebuilt under warranty, but if I had to pay for it just the labor alone was over half of what I paid for the watercraft.

Damn, Miller, you are either independantly wealthy or using the watercraft to try to outrun the crashing waves of debt
. Anyway, when my bike was in the paint shop after an accident, I called everyday until it was done. I could tell the guy hated me when I called. I was there on my lunchbreak from work to ride it home whenhe was finally done.
