I am Catholic, but alot of the visuals are a little creepy in our religion. I think some of that is the mindset of the Church during that period oftime that the art was created. Whatever the case, why can't these craftsmen that do this work get out there and train the average Chinese worker so they stop exporting so much CRAP to this country.

 

Forget the sculpture, look at the guys on the far left and right! that's freaky!

 

I've been searching all over and I can't find any definitive information on the history of the sculpture...as in the name of it, if one exists and who did it and when.

Does anyone think those guards are super elite fighters?

 

It reminds me of the end of "Devil's Advocate." The scene in Al Pacino's office when he reveals the truth to Keanu Reeves and all the **** on the walls starts comin alive.

Anyone can respond in this thread, RCR, I just didn't want it to turn into "I think Catholics are dumb" or "religion is stupid", or "my church is better than yours"...that's all. Upon seing one of the responses, it looks like I was correct in the "Jesus rising out of hell" theory. Beautiful craftsmanship, but very, very disturbing if you don't know the background! I am Catholic, too, and it is very misunderstood. I think many religions can be misinterpreted if you are not a member of that specific religion.
