RE: Internet
Sorry but I just absolutely hate incorrect spelling and poor grammar...what I really hate is "text" speak...I could understand it on the old mobiles before predictive text but now it's so easy and sometimes easier to just put the right word.
Then we have text speak on an internet forum ...what's that about?

RE: Internet
Well, it's considered leet or 1337 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leet). Are you offended the the use of "lol"?
As our forms of communications gets faster and faster, more and more shortcuts are taking to speed said communication. Look at say the Gettysburg address (Why the Gettysburg Address works) compared to now. No one speaks like that anymore. Look at your email compared to say, a handwritten letter. Emails are wrought with mistakes.
It's also kind of like code words like the little orphan annie decoder rings. Only those that are part of the group understand it. Granted the message was "Drink your Ovaltine," but hey, no one else knew that. Just like only riders understand the wave. You feel you are part of the group when you understand it. Keep in mind this isn't reserved to the written language either, people take shortcuts when speaking too or different words have different meanings. For instance, in the south (US), when asking for a carbonated drink, you ask for a "coke" and then specify what brand. In parts of the northeast, it's "soda", and midwest it might be "pop". It's as much a cultural thing anything else.
But I see your point. One of the greatest tools that we have is the written word and it should not be permitted to degrade so much that we fail utilize the English Language properly.
