Default International Scout

I've been contemplating picking up a 1974 Scout convertable .The truck is in great shape has a inline six dana 30's in the front 44's in the rear with 60,500 miles for 8500$ my question is this..

Is there any areas prone to rust or weak links in this truck !! It look like it would be a blast to go offroading and wouldn't be a daily driver... any imput would be appreciated

Thanks G

Heres the add

Sharp Truck!!! I believe on those its the front floor boards and the rear corners of the bed that have a tendency to weaken then rust if there was a lot of exposure to the elements. You should be able to see anything in the bed and the floorboards from underneath [or by knocking]. Also check the door hinges. Looks in great condition though, shouldnt have any problems.

Thanks for the imput!! I thought it looked pretty solid but I also once puchased a 72 Chevy long bed truck that LOOKED solid new paint and all!! But the dang cab corners were completley rusted out and I didn't figure that out for like a year I just didn't want to end up in the same situation!!I will def check out the floor boards, rear bed and hinges !!

This is exactly the type info i was lookin for......Thanks D2ME

I saw the post before I clicked the link and was like...holy hell....8K for an old scout! But thats a really clean lookin scout thats been gone over. Take a soft magnet and check the corners, door bottoms, and wheel wells. I almost got ripped on a 56', found out that almost all the panels were bondoed up to hell. It's all in your tastes but you can get a great wheeler for that kind of money. The scout had a NC plate. Are you located in NC? I used to be stationed there and did allot of wheeling in the eastern part of the state, Easter Carolina Jeep and 4x4 club is pretty big out there.

Yeah this is about an hour from me in Ashboro!! He has gone through the whole truck , new floor pans custom top, flip down rear glass ond relatively low miles!! I've been lookin at some old Chev's and such but there not likely to have the restoration and convertable!! A pre- 2000 chevy 1500 4x4 is still gettin 10,000$ with over 100,000 miles and was prolly repoed from a mexican!!lol !!
