Default Indy GP

Well due to certain circumstance I have missed my pilgramige to LS this year. Thinking about making it up and going to Indy. Never been there so have no idea what it is like. From what I gather there are bleachers, can you see the whole track from there? I am flying in so would it be best to take a taxi to the track or should I rent a bike or car? What are the good places to stay that are close to the track? Any walking distance?
I am sure I will have more questions but this should get me started.

Thanks in advance.

Joe

As far as I know, the only point on the track that you can see the entire thing is in a sweet. As far as transportation is concerned, rent a car and book a hotel NOW in Speedway, IN or downtown. Moto GP is huge here and a lot of Europeans come over to watch the race. S. Meridian is the place to be the night before the race. Bikes, broads, booze and good times to be had. When you get in town drop me a PM and maybe we could meet up.

Thanks for the info. I have stayed off Meridian before but am not familiar with where it is in relation to the track.Hotel prices do not seem to bad at all so far in comparison with Monterey for the races. Pretty good package deals to be had still with flight included.
Are all the seats at Indy grandstand or can you walk the track like LS.

Like Hoosier said, get a hotel room yesterday. Rent a car. Hit us both up. My crew starts the party off Thursday night in Broad Ripple(Indy's bar area)and goes till Sunday night. We see it all. More than welcome to join us.

I see all the sections but it seems just a general admission would let me go anywhere. I am assuming this event is no where near their NASCAR events so small stuff for them.

General admission will let you sit anywhere, Friday and Saturday. We sat at turn 4 on race day and had perfect seats to see Rossi wreck last year.

I missed last years Indy GP, but not doing that this year. Taking my son and a my best buddy to the race. At the 08 race I was sitting at the last corner going into the main straigh. It was great. You saw the bikes coming out of the back straight, take a bunch of corners and then rocket down the front straight. Damn in, I can't wait for the race. Once I get back I'll post a tone of pics
