Default indesign

so ive just spent the past 7 hours making an 8 page layout for a fake annual report for a fake company for a group project on inDesign. Just as i finish i go and look at the back cover and the text is all blurry and unreadable. I was confued at first then noticed that all the pages shrunk from 8.5x11 to 8.25x10.5. The images on the front and back cover i made in photoshop so the texts on there are all pixel based so i cant just retype it plus the graphics are distorted and blurry too. Sooo i decided to restart and after another hour of working on it and creating the whole template and stuff again it magically shrunk by .25 inches all around AGAIN. annnnnnd then it also did it a third time. Does anyone know WHY THE HELL this is doing this or what im doing wrong? Pressing undo after it happens doesnt do anything. I cant find anything to rescale them back to 8.5x11 and even if i do im sure the quality wont be regained anyway. Also im using a friends laptop to use indesign since i dont have it and a lot of the fonts im using ones that ive downloaded and such that arent on this computer either.
