So, out riding this afternoon and I had my camera strapped to the back seat to get some more video (I'm putting together a new vid which will be posted later). I have a decent Fuji S5100 4.0 mp digital camera with really good video capabilities, for a still shot camera. It resembles a 35mm digital, with big lens, so it's a pain and bulky, but excellent. Anyway, had it strapped to the back seat with mini bungee cords in several spots. Very secure, or so I thought. I couldn't wiggle it out for the life of me. Anyway, I get done filming some more twisites, then I shut it off to hit some more spots. On the highway, I felt back there every so often to make sure it's snug. It was. I looked back in the mirror just at the right time to see that bitch bouncing on the highway! ****! I put my hand on the seat and sure enough, that was it alright. Pulled in a side road and made a safe U-turn. Go back the other way and make another turn to go retrieve it. Luckily, it had a sunshield on the lens that took a lot of the impact. The shield came off at some point and got run right over. The camera itself landed on the shoulder and is all rashed up. I had 4 expensive rechargable AA's that were all over the road. Only found one, and it too was run over and leaking. I cut my loses. Got home and put in 4 new batteries and sure enough, it still works! I can't access any menus though, but can take pics and download them, just can't fine tune things. Time to upgrade, it was about 3 years old and almost $500.

That sucks! But three years is pretty good.

 

man that sucks! i've got a crappy Pentax digital camera (4 mp). its video quality is pretty crappy, pics are ok though. i was actually looking at some better camera's yesterday. found a nice Kodak for $500 (8 mp). before the end of the year i want to get a REALLY nice camera.

No, surprisingly not! I was able to download the stuff. I thought the thing was toast for sure.
