diz no probs im always open to suggestions that will help better me

cbrsix just google search mma with your area code. they should take all levels. we take guys and girls that have never trained in theyre life. its a little funny cause you can tell they are scarred ****less and have no idea what to expect. dont worry though they wont through you in the ring with rampage just yet. the will take you from beginner and train you in that fashion and soon youll be the guy telling the new kid hey dont worry they wont hurt you

How do you get into something like that. I am from pittsburgh and i see signs for mma training but what skill levels does that include. Would that start from a complete beginner and up?
speaking as someone who jsut started to... i went to my first class last weeknever doing any sort of martial arts wrestline or anything other than just hitting the weights in the gym. If its the same as it was at my place they take it easy on you in the beginning, teaching you a few basic movesan such.

I have half my life involved with multiple styles of martial arts myself. It's very rewarding, and fun. I've been teacher and student.

From most every screen and clip i can see people are dropping their arms when they go on the offense. KEEP YOUR HANDS UP.... Your first screenshot is asking to get knocked the F out... If you even cross someone that has any street experience your leaving yourself very vulnerable. Your hands need to stay up, not fully extended down off your sides.

Keep it up, it takes years and good instuctors to get somewhere. Sparring with different parters often will also teach you your own mistakes when they capitalize on such things.
he threw a muay thai roundhouse...ur suppossed to drop your kicking hand back like that. you keep it out there for balance and it helps get the kick out there as well. he also had his left hand up for protection. anybody that is gonna try and walk into that is pretty dumb considerin they will prolly end up gettin a knee to the face or the back of the headin the process just from the leg comin around.
I won't debate in this thread but i will respectfully disagree. That may be what you have been taughtbut not me. I have a very diverse background and you can land a roundhouse with full power andkeep your hands up. Dropping your hand to your side while throwing a kick might help you 'get it out there' ifyou lack flexibility, which is a big part of martial arts. That doesn't mean it's not leaving youvulnerable to a more skilled opponent, and that there isn't a better way to get the job done.I'm not here to show boat but i have competed in many many comps andhave never walked out without a 1sp placetrophey infighting, usually in cotta (form) also. I'm a pretty small dude at 5'10 135lbs and have had no trouble dropping people 100lbs heavier then me withvery few hits. Usually 1 if it's on the streets. On that note, the most important lesson studyingany martial arts should teachyou is that there is almost always a way out of a fight. Fighting isa last resort when your body becomes a deadly weapon. I was very lucky that martial arts way just a way of life in my family, from the time i started walking i was tossed in the dojo. Hapkido, jujitsu, tae kwon do, kick boxing, wrestling, etc... ive studied a lot of different styles under many instructorsfor long periods of time and i can tell you the best fighters adapt many styles together. Againt a skilled opponent i wouldn't even throw a roundhouse kick out there. .002

True story. I moved neighborhoods when i was 11 or 12 in New Jersey. We moved to the suburbs of Camden a few blocks from the hospital. If anyone knows the area you will understand. Im white, nuff said. A week after we moved in my brother and I had 9 or 10 kids varying in age from our age to a few years older chase us home one day. When we made it home my dad made us go back outside. He told us you can't run forever, he made us fight all these black kids at once. (i have nothing against any race they just happened to be all blacks, if you know camden you know..) Me and my brother who is a year older then me dropped all of them but a few in just a few minutes time. The few we didn't get to, ran away when they saw what we were doing to their buddies. Knowledge is power my friend. I learned an important lesson that day that i will forever owe my father for.

I don't actively attend any dojo these days. There is a boxing school a few blocks from here i go to once in a blue moon to get some hand to hand in but thats about it. I stopped fighting when i left college.

Having said that, im still scared of Hardcorp ! lol

no theres no debate. i respect your knowledge and appreciate you contributing. by the way im black (well mixed breed but that doesnt matter to anyone but me) and i think in your story those guys had it coming to them. if i were there i would have helped you out! yes a wide backround of all arts is the most solid base you can have.

the kick that was thrown is thrown in a manner that your lead hand is blocking the left side of your head and your shoulder blocking the right of your chin. pivoting on the left foot and striking with the right. there are many ways to throw the kick yes (and i have been instructed in different arts) but for right now my friend i am in muay thai.

my instructor is a former lightweight muay thai champion and former lightweight mma champion, so im not going to argue with him about style even though i know a couple. when i roll in the jitsu i dont tell people about this awesome punch that i learned in muay thai, you see what im getting at. so you are right in saying that there are different ways to throw it. im just saying if im playing football im not showing up with a lacrosse racket.
and i wouldnt **** with hard corp either

exactly, its just a form in muay thai that has been developed for centuries and if you do it right you dont have to worry bout droppin that hand cause other parts of your body will be able to block the punch/kick/knee/elbow, whatever. there are all types of styles, but its not the styles that are better than the other...its the individual. how much they know, how well their reflexes are (prolly the most important), how flexible and strong they are, etc.

You practice kata or tai chi or shadow box slowly to work on the technique and breathing. There is a reason for this, its to learn muscle memory and to clear your mind so you can focus. Eventually if you ever have to fight, you have to do it faster but if you practice enough kata then it will come easily. So, if you work on the technique as much as possible, eventually all things will come together.

And fuze, when i first tried muay thai, i was with you. Coming from boxing, you never drop your hands...ever. Just a sure way to get knocked out. But, after trying the technique out, i learned that you dont always have to realy on your hands to protect you. For one, to even get around that type of kick it would prolly have to be one of the drunk-punch haymaker types that you see from a mile a way. A simple strait jab/cross/overhand just aint gonna make it in there fast enough if they guy has the right distance on you and his legs are speedy enough...watch some muay thai fights and see how fast them cats move their legs, its fackin blinding in a sense and i wish i can get there one day. But, back to the haymaker, when you see it, you can always just stop the kick mid-kick and raise your hand back up while your throwin a jab to stun him right quick. after that, its up to you, but just sayin, it aint easy to get around that kick with somebody that has the right speed and technique and distance on ya.
