I think my cagers clutch is going out...help PART 2
As I had said before, the clutch on my 94 camry was on its way out, rightfully so with 184K miles. I called around and the best price anyone could do was 950-1,100 bucks. I brought my car back to the used shop where I bought it and asked if he could do a clutch. Mechanic claimed he could have it done in 5 hours, said he did them all the time. I was quoted 650 bucks for everything. I dropped it off at 10AM and my car was ready at 4PM. Factor in a lunch break and I think this guy was dead on with his time estimate. Price was 600 out the door, too. Car runs great now, but a new clutch is something to get used to especially after the old worn out one. Clutch is very easy to engage/disnegage and starts to grab when the pedal is close to the floor. Guy did good work, and with 100 miles the car feels great (for a 94 POS camry anyways). Figured I post an update, as I had asked here if anyonet thought I should scrap it and buy another beater.

Why do you have an inclination to scrap it? You may run into new and unwanted problems with a different beater? Your car may run forever.

Funny you posted this. I have a `95 Subaru Impreza 2.2 with over 150K miles on it. The engine still runs great (even with Fram oil filters~lol) but I'm concerned about the clutch going out eventually. $600 bucks for a newclutch would be very nice since that's about how much the car`s worth.
Hope your cage lasts you another 184K
