I sat on the new CBR600RR
Not terribly exciting I know but I was at the dealers and they let me try it for size...I couldn't believe how light it felt after my F3, soooo nice...so want one!
This was the latest 2008 model...

ya i saw them the other day in dealership.. although the front is different and still iffy on that.. not as bad as i thought it would be looks great althought the 08 1000rr.. not really a fan
I love my 07... I've got no complaints. I got a chance to ride an "older" rr, an 06 model... and I couldn't believe the difference in the way it felt all the way around. The 06 and before RR seat is an act of torture as well!
You've been thinking about this for a while, why don't you put your bike up for sale. If you get the right price then upgrade, if not think about a little longer.
The 08 RR is sweet for sure and alot lighter then the F3. I though you said you F3 has a steel frame? if so then the RR is going to be way lighter. If you can afford the RR and it feels good to you then I say go for it.
The '07 and '08s are identical when it comes the engines. The '07 - '08sengine is completely redesignedfor more midrange, peak power, and weight reduction which all you can actually feel. Here's a few changes between the "older RRs"i've dug up.
- Smaller, lighter, more compact inline four-cylinder engine.
- Improved midrange performance and enhanced peak power.
- Repositioned transmission shafts within crankcase allow for shorter engine.
- New lightweight, forged-aluminum pistons incorporate special shot peening for added toughness.
- Lightweight magnesium head cover.
- Smaller, lighter neodium magnet ACG.
- New transmission gear ratios.
- Smaller, lighter clutch.
- New non-resonance knock sensor maintains optimum spark advance while constantly monitoring combustion performance during mid- to high-speed operation.
