i was told a little over 3 weeks ago that in about 3 weeks they would have a number for me for my accident i was involved in becuase of their insuree. well i called back today becuase i doubt they will call me they never have before when they said they will. and now they say it takes 3-5 weeks. i have been talking to a claims adjuster i belive thats what she is, is there any one else to call? they said the claim was sent to a review board and they will get back in contact with her when they come up with a number. i mean WTF its been since july that i wrecked, it takes 6 months? for them to get the medical papers it took them a call every other day till they had them and i had to hand deliver some. it seams its out of her hands now on how long it takes so i dont know what to say to her.

any ideas?

 

Unfortunately, I don't think its by accident that they are giving you the runaround.

Can you get a lawyer to write them a letter? I am not sure how much it would cost to get a lawyer to do that, but I am sure that the fear of legal fees and potiential court costs would light a fire under thier feet.

Same thing happened to my girlfriend. Mercury Insurance, which sucks a big one, gave her the run around for a year. Every time she would turn in all the paper work that was requested, a new claims adjuster would get assigned to her case and the paper work would magically disappear. So she would have to turn in the paper work again, and again, and again, and again. Finally she lawyered up and they settled the claim in about 2 weeks. I hate insurance companies. They are quick to take your money but are tight to give it to you when it is due.

 

Honestly some of the little guys may be cheaper, but from my personal experience the big companies do exactly what they say they're going to...

Get a lawyer and they'll pay.

 

i had a econ teacher last semester who is a lawyer. i wounder if i could get her to right a letter to them. if i call a lawyer can i get them to just help speed it up and not get me more money becuase with lawyer fees i think i will get less than if i did it on my own. i am going to call this lady friday again then monday and every day after. and will ask to have a meeting with these people who are going to come up with a number. i will show up at the office everyday lol.

what would a letter from a lawyer say? could i get someone to act as a lawyer and send a letter? is that legal?

 

It's may not be illegal, but it will sound very un-professional and can hurt your cause rather than help. I certainly wouldn't do it if I was possibly entering a legal battle. Get a real lawyer, pay him a little, and see what happens. If it goes down bad, at least you're ready with a lawyer. You have to trust in the fact that lawyers know what to say and how to say it to spur action.

I'm a little disgruntled from insurance companies myself. Long ago, I had an accident were I had to file an accident report. The insurance company got wind of it. They then cancelled my policy and set the cancel date the day after I started my policy which was about six months prior. Then theba$tards"failed" todate the canelation notice which put the burden on me!! The state then considered the accident uninsured and it was a HUGE headache to prove that I did have coverage at the time of the accident. Thank GOD I saved all my paper work and the envelope the cancellation notice came in becauseI was able to use the post mark date in my hearing.
Myroutine now is to not involve insurance companies because it only causes more problems and higher rates. I've been able to settle things with people where both parties walk away happy (insured doesn't file claim and I get my bike fixed). Plus I don’t file an accident report which means... the accident never happened

 

i am trying figure out how to go about getting a laywer to just help me get them to pay quicker rather than fight for more money. would they care if i told them this becuase i dont want to give them a % i mean its like 30% or something like that? if i called a accident lawyer firm and asked if they could send a letter to make them speed it up for a set price would they?

i have come to a conclusion of what i am going to do. i am calling her monday if she gives me no new information on it i am asking to talk to a person who is going to give me a number on it. if she says she cant or they will call by blah blah blah i am saying i want a call within a week or i am getting a laywer.
