If I were to sell one of my guns that is registered in my name, how would I go about the legalities? Is it even legal for me to do that? Is it a state-by-state thing? I know a lot of you guys own guns so I thought someone might have a quick reply. thanks

 

I know that in california, you have to go through an authorized (licensed) dealer..... Although, even in other states, that may be a good place to start.

If it's a face to face deal then you don't need to do anything special pending your local laws (state). If you wanna sell and ship it, then you just go to your local FFL holder (pawn shop, gun store) and they can take care of transferring the register and all that stuff. I personally don't like registering guns so I stick to gun shows and close friends. I would also like to know how you clear your name from a gun.

 

best thing is give them the number off the gun so they can register it in their name before you actually give it to them. I'd go to your local gun dealer or local PD and check before you do anything though.

 

I hear Mike Bloomberg is buying them and melting them. One less gun off the street. (Pardon my stance on gun control...don't mean to offend anyone.)

Check with your State Police. Don't listen to gun dealers, they're FOS and most don't know their asses from their elbows. The ones who do know the laws sound as convincing as the ones who don't. Call your local State Police barracks and request a copy in writing (might not do any good). Google your state's justice code and query the laws regarding firearms/handgun sales. Each state is different so don'tlisten to people on the internet, I'm not going to do your homework for you, but at the same time I don't wantyou to go to jail.

 

if your in ca, you need to go through an ffl espec if its not face to face tranasction... it will cost ya 50 buks tooo, well some ffls charge that much, try to find one for about 30.
