Default How fast have you gone?

What's the fastest you've gone? Go off of what your speedo read and adjust for gearing if needed. Example: If my speedo read 180 mph and my gearing is -1/+2, my adjusted speed was 150 mph (reads approx. 20% high). However, due to drag and tire slip, my real speed may have been slower. We will go with the 150 mph in this case.

Please, everyone, let's be nice and non-judgmental of each other.

A reminder: If you like to travel at a high rate of speed around traffic, it probably isn't wise to share it openly.

150. Twice. And it was plenty fast. No need to really go over 70 or 80 unless at the track though.

I hit 142 over the weekend here on highway 68:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...08647&t=h&z=12

The road went empty for at least a mile in front of me. Fastest I've gone with traffic around was probably about 85 in a 75 zone.

What percentage difference in speed am I looking at with +1 in the rear? Is it consistent through every gear and the entire rev range?

You would have to clock it with GPS to know for sure, but probably about 5% high (reads 105, actual 100). Since it's a gearing change after the transmission, it would be consistent in all gears.

You'll appreciate this since you know where it is ... the highway between Heber and Park City ... over the hill going north, then down ... visibility good for miles ... this was before the UHP office was built in that exact spot ... reached the top of sixth gear long enough to plant a flag on Everest, then backed off and haven't done it again since.

Yep, I know that hill. I over-heated a Ford F350 with 1,900 miles on it towing a trailer up that hill. If it weren't for that UHP office, I think I'd give it a go, too. Oh well.

After some careful consideration, I've decided that this thread isn't such a good idea.
We don't condone excessive speeding here on CBRF for the obvious reason of safety, but also because it is very much illegal.
Riding on public roads at many of the speeds in this poll would not only lead to huge fines and license suspensions, but also possible jail time.

If this was a track only thread, I may have let it go.... but I can already see how this could end up headed the wrong direction.
Remember that many many people visit this forum (registered or not) and well..... we just don't condone excessive speed.

I think we can agree that all of our bikes go very very fast (except for........... naaah, I'm not gonna go there... but he knows who he is.... ).

Although you all seem to be controlling yourselves pretty well.... I see no need to spell out where or how fast some of us have taken our bikes.

Amen, we've had many threads like this over the years.
I don't think we need another one.
