House training
Ok I know a lot people on here have dogs. I just got a 1 year old American Staffordshire Terrier and she can not make it through the night without a accident. I have rubbed her nose in it, did the whole paper in the kennel thing. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am open for any. HELP ME!

RE: House training
We too are going through the house training ordeal with our 5 month old American Staffordshire. I one thing our trainer pointed out is that if their crate is too big they will feel as though they have enough space to sleep and deficate. Cause unless the dog has any type urinary infection they will not go where they sleep. Perhaps downsizing the crate could be an option.

Dogs are very much creatures of habit..
They learn very quickly and get into good and bad habits in 2 seconds..
As has been said mate ..feed and water earlier and you just have to keep dragging her outside late as you can till she gets the drift ...a good way to get a dog used to something is reward !!
When you take her out for the last walk and finally does her business ...give her a little dog bickie or something after she pees ..
( only if she pees ??? )
they understand love ...not so much nose rubbing .. I think that is an old timer method that does not work very well mate
Q/ What does an 65 klg rottie do [:-] .... A/ any bloody thing it wants too

RE: House training
Don't rub your dogs nose in it, does nothing in training the dog & if your pissed off at it & angry, grinding your dogs nose into the carpet can actually damage it.
Does she go in the same place each time? You need to clean the carpet/floor with White vinegar & water (1 cup to say 2 litres of water) the vinegar neutrilises the Uric acid & gets rid of the smell.
Take her to the vet, some female dogs are very prone to urinary/kidney infections, especially prone if they have been desexed. Is it feasible to install a doggie door in your place.
Dogs are creatures of habit, so just start the training again, reward her with praise & a treat each time she pees outside. Punishing a dog for something they did hours (even minutes) ago is just a waste of time

Down sizing the crate is a option but not right now. I am currently unemployed at the moment. Any time she goes outside late at night or first thing in the morning I praise her. It is not just pee that is the habit I want to break. Every once in a while she will leave a steamer the size and diameter of a softball if not larger. Her final break for the night is usually about 15 minutes long. I want to make sure she gets it all out before she goes to bed.
Thanks for the suggestions.
