Honda did it right

Honda did it right
Today my brother and I changed the oil in our bikes. My brother has an 04 R6 and me of course my 07 600RR. I was done in about 7 min and him in at least 25-30. I was able to get to everything without removing a fairing and he has to remove his lower. Then check the oil level all I had to do was look through the sight glass and he had to pull out his dipstick about 4 times to make sure he was getting and accurate reading. It seems like Honda made it really easy to change oil where Yami did not. On a sad note the bike is fully winterized and put away for winter

It is still a great bike. If I didn't buy a Honda then the R6 is what I would have bought. Yes the oil change is a much longer process but still a great bike. Luckily you only have to do it once a year (depending on where you live/how much you ride) so it's not bad.

Even with a dip stick you need to have the bike upright so you'll need a buddy there no matter what. Might as well go with a sight glass because it is much faster. Offer a free beer and I bet you will have no trouble getting a friend/neighbor to hold the bike upright for 3 seconds while you check.

Yumi your 09 will be very close expect for the fact that you will have to remove the fairing that covers the engine to get to the oil filler.
First remove the drain plug, drain oil then replace it:
Then reach in here and grab the oil filter. You may need to use a piece of sandpaper to bust it free:
Then remove the oil filter and replace it with the new one:
Fill it up with 3 qts of your preferred oil and your done.

Anyway, after it is in the balanced upright position I reinsert the dip stick, rotate it counterclockwise at least one full turn to get a uniform reading on the stick and extract it. I would have a difficult time balancing it while bending over to see the level in a site glass and it doesn't give an accurate reading if it is on a rear stand. I've owned bikes with a site glass before.

Jeff it sounds like your contradicting yourself. If I'm reading this correctly you're saying the bike doesn't ned to be in the upright position if you have a dip stick but the very next paragraph you say get it balanced in the upright position. Am I missing something?
