I know I need an oil change but haven't gotten to it yet. Just got back from a ride and there is no oil on the dipstick!!!! I'm going for a ride in the morning so I need to put some oil in. But I don't know what type of oil is in there now. What do I do????

 

USe a cage to go to the store and get 4stroke sportbike oil.

Does it come in different viscositys or just get 4stroke oil? My manual says 10w40. Do I just assume the last oil change was with synthetic and stick with that?

 

if in doubt, i'd go to a dealer to get some from them. i only put honda HP-4 in my bike without moly.

 

Why not just get enough to do a change and filter if you don't even know what's in there.

Because I'm not doing an oil change tonight. I just need to top it off temporarily.

 

I would just get some dino oil, ie non syn. Top it off, it should mix fine even if you have syn. While your there tho get 4 quarts of good oil and a filter. Do the oil change next chance you have so you know its taken care of properly.

 

as long as you use synthetic 10w30 or 40 you'll be just fine
