I love my Shoei. From the $$ view, it's not the most expensive but it's up there. Arai is the top brand from what I've seen, but who cares which is the best or most expensive? You have to buy the right helmet for you. If the Arai doesn't fit right, then it's not worth anything sitting on a shelf. I paid under $400 for my Shoei because the limit I set on myself was $350. I'm not feeling a $500 or above helmet if I don't make a living at riding.

I bought a Scorpion EXO-700. I tried both the Arai and Shoei as well. As far as comfort goes, the Scorpion wasn't too far behind either of the top brands, but the no fog shield of the Scorpion makes up for it. I didn't have the money to buy a $400-500 lid, so I went with the Scorpion which ran me about $200 shipped to my front door.

The EVO-700 is a great helmet. I have the yellow and black raider and it is a very nice looking helmet with 6 vents.

Don't get stuck on the fact the more you pay the better the helmet. Did you ever read "Blowing off the lid" in Motorcyclist? They proved that the Z1R was the safest helmet out in the market and this helmet is one of the cheapest priced out there.

Basically, go for looks and fit. You might not like the way the Shoei fits.

I`ve only ever bought Shoei Or Arai, they are the best in my Opinion, but i suppose if they pass the same tests then there all good just the fit thats different. May be expensive but considering they last for 5 years unless you crash em, then there not that much.

MY shoei rf-1000 fits great. Fit is almost everything. Other thing is faceshield hardware and vents (especially in Florida). As much as like the Arai, it didn't fit my oddly shaped head.

I've heard that every 3 years people replace their helmets so keep that in mind when buying.

Arai. 9mm wont go through mine. I am pretty happy. Very light. Expensive but well worth the money.

suomy, arai and shoei are as good as it gets
but personally i like my icon gear better

earlier this week i was talking to some friends of mine who are regulars at Buttonwillow
it turns out that Shoei wearers are knocked out the most when they crash @ the track, or so the resident medics say

now that doesn't mean that Shoei is not good enough ... just that out here some Shoei wearers like to take larger risks
