As far as harley trying to improve their technology, they won't/can't. The water cooled models don't sell, Buells are using Rotax twins and the air cooled motors won't survive future emissions and noise issues. harley can'y change because nobody wants them to. Jap bikes are always better with new technology, harleys are dinosaurs, and the harly people love dinisaurs, if that thing evolves it will die.

Good points Fish.

I agree that HD is afraid to make too many changes because it will upset their core customers. The V-Rod is a great looking bike and it should bewildly successful sales-wise yet most Harley riders give it the cold shoulder.

Conspiracy theory: I betHarley secretly wants emissions laws tightened so they have a built-in excuse to sell to their customers for finally updating their technology.
I've heard the same things about the V-Rod from Harley guys. They don't like it. It's too modern/cool for them. I like it, but I'd never pay that much for something that Harley owners scorn.

hey now i agree with everyone else im a hard core "union made" in america kinda of guy who drives a f-250 and a mustang, but when it comes to bikes.... im a traitor lol nothing and i mean nothing beats my honda...especially for less than half the price but as harley has had in the past a loyal following i see them going no where except higher sales brackets look at all the hogs on the road now

To hell with what others, (especially the Harley owners that happen to be elitists, not all of them are like that) think.
The bigger issue is that for what a Night-Rod Special costs, I can get a very slightly used Gold Wing, and will end up with 10 times the bike the 'Rod will ever be.

Harley is widly successful, and will continue to be.
Agreed! That's why they're laying off more employees for a second time in two years. Sure this time it's only two weeks but last summer it was for 3 months. I feel that when a company is very successful they should lay off employees to bring up their profits to show they are even more successful. Harley is the least hurting company ever!!!!!!!!!

TheX must work for them.....

You'd have to care about what others think if you ever tried to sell the POS.

I like the bug eye headlights on the new Fat Bob, but I don't really get the point of cruisers, anyway.
