RE: Guitar players
^ Yeh, that's the thing. I friggin can't come up with music. One of my friends told me to learn the scales. I can play almost anything I want to learn. With exceptions.. but I can't write anything. It's very very frustrating. I'm just trying to relearn everything and see if I can get the hang of it all. So maybe I can start writing my own music.

Think of it as learning a language. You have to mimic first, then when you know enough words, you can start creating your own thoughts. I still say find a teacher...a good one. Have a music store make a recommendation maybe. They should know who the popular teachers are, and who has a good reputation. Be prepared to take your time. Sure you can learn random scales and chords, but to know why or how those two fit together is even better. A good teacher should be able to teach you those things. Also, listen to everything you can get your hands on.

Man, I wish I'd have learned the fundamentals...I took some piano lessons earlier this year to learn more about music, and even though they were great, I had to drop them when I bought my house. I've been playing guitar a few years, and I'm horrible at it. I've been on a big Guns N Roses kick lately...was jammin out to Sweet Child O Mine last night...it sounded decent until the fast part of the long solo when the wah kicks in, at which point I just start playing Izzy's part. X, if you have that pdf, I would really appreciate a copy. shoortbuss@gmail.com
