Default Got a headlight delay schematic.

Here's the ninja 250's headlight wiring. The head light doesnt come on till the engine is started allowing the alternator to charge, which goes to a relay. The light will stay on when you hit the kill switch but will stay off the next time you turn the key to on.

I was going to wire a switch and maybe an indicator light for when I make the switch to HID and now will look into this option too.

tripageled has a hid delay switch that would do this right? or at least give you enough time to get the bike running before they came on ?

That just gives you up to a 15 second delay. Light will come on with the bike started or not after that.

Just so I am reading this correctly, the headlight relay is what keeps the light off?

Also, what do the triangles with the lines mean? I thought I knew, but the schematic as I am reading it makes no sense in that it provides unprotected power at the same time as the relay provides fused power.[]

triangles with lines are diodes....to prevent current from flowing back up the line....

i haven't really taken my time to look over this...but really the only important part for the headlights would be how the headlight relay is set up...i am going to try and figure it out...just don't have the time here at work...

Thanks. I knew it was something simple, but now I'm confused as to why you would need that jumper type wire. The Alt wire and the Y/R wire pulls in the coil and completes the circuit for the headlight/10a fused circuit.

I've always been better with figuring out this stuff when seeing it in person, so that may be my confusion on this.

<edit> nevermind, I just realized that the headlight fused circuit would be what keeps the coil pulled in once the relay is activated. Duh...
