And no price drop for the 2?

Seems odd to me...last time there was a big price drop in the first one when the 2 came out.

 

not gonna pay an extra $150 for a remote.

 

It's not just the remote you're paying for...and it's only $100 more than the Hero2.

You could also get a non black edition for the same price, or even $100 cheaper.

As for what the black does and the 2 doesn't...

For starters, it comes with a dive housing built in, which used to cost $40. It makes shooting underwater much better, but also helps above the water a little bit.

Next, instead of the maximum of 120 FPS in only WVGA, and 60 in other modes, and only 30FPS in some...the new "black" can do 240FPS in WVGA, other modes have also seen an increase in their maximum FPS, including the 1080 mode which is now up to 60FPS.

We now see the 1440p mode, which is higher resolution and can shoot in up to 48FPS.

Not to mention better low light performance, 30 photo burst (compared to 10 before) in 1 second.

Also, we get four completely new resolutions for professional production. A better lens that has less distortion

We now get built in wifi with this edition, including a wifi remote however you can also use your iPhone or other device...AND this is also on the $300 model.

We also get 12MP pictures vs 11MP on the Hero2.

I'm sure I'm missing a lot of things, but this is just what I found in a few minutes.

I'd say its worth it...but I'm surprised they are not dropping the Hero2 price.

 

I wish they would have added gps like on the Contour.

 

WHAT??? Hero3 already? Man I just learn how to use the 2....haven't even use all it's features yet...

but I think that they are still asking too much. I would just get the hero 2 for $200.

Unless you got the money, sped it wisely.

 

Yeah, at the shop we just bought a bunch of Hero 2s and now they're just sitting there. Just some bad luck, I guess. Luckily GoPro is giving us a break and letting us drop the price to $200.

I'd love to score a black edition, but only select retailers are getting them and it's supposed to be a whole 'nother process to apply and be approved for them.
