Default GoPro helmet camera

My question goes out to those of you with a helmet cam. What way of mounting have you found to give the best shots? Top of the helmet, side? If you like the camera on the side, is there a specific side you like better? Me and a friend I ride with all the time just went halves on one and are going to each put a mount on our helmets. I just want insight on which helmet position you guys like better. Thanks.

I have yet to try mounting on the side, cause the GoPro mount bracket comes in curved, and flat surface....I mount on top of helmet, but the only down side is when you press record button, you have to reach to the top and press, listen to the sound so you know it's working....then I got the chesty....work better.

Think if you mount on helmet, you can shoot which ever direction you turn you head towards...say if a hot chick in the car next to you, you just look at her, then you'll get her in the video. With the chesty and suction mount, it's pretty much fixed....

Top of the helmet will give you the best coverage in the twisties. However, on interstate/freeway, you'll feel the wind resistance. Tethering the camera is a good idea to prevent loss. I use paracord strands or fishing line.

I also use the top of my helmet to record stuff. I also place the suction cup mount on my tank and that gives me pretty nice coverage.

Top is my preference. Side works for certain things but I prefer to not have part of my video show a helmet 100% of the time.

Here's an example on the top of the helmet:

I like mounting it on the chin of the helmet facing forward. With the new one you should be able to see the light blink on top of it if you look down.

I'm guessing this doesn't impair your vision at all. I've seen that some people are doing this but i didn't know if you'd be staring at the back of the camera the whole time.

It's helmet to helmet, depends if you have a suitable surface to mount

I always have it on the top of my helmet... mainly because i dont wanna put a mount on my bikes paint... i know ive gotten some of my best videos on my snowmobile with actually mounting them on the sled itself... all if you want to deal with having those mounts everywhere

I have a Drift HD170 Stealth.. mounted to the right hand side of my helmet.. I also have the suction mount that can go anywhere on the bike and a mount on one of the mirror stalks..
