Goodbye Yolanda... Hello Sersi! (pic heavy)
Yolanda was a beautiful bike. Even after abusing her almost exactly 1 year ago in a lowside, she treated me right. There was absolutely nothing wrong with her. She was far more capable than I am skilled. But BMW raised the bar, moving it out of the stratosphere and jamming it into the ionosphere. So yesterday I gave her one last bath.
She always had that... look. Today I took the 80 mile ride to Metuchen, NJ. After 30 minutes of "sign here, initial there" yadayadayada
Tereance, my salesrep, pull the Sold sign off the tank and handed me my keys.
Sersi is the 1578th of her kind to leave Germany.
She came with all the extra bits and baubles so she is the Competition version. It was the tradeoff for speeding up delivery. After bsing around the dealership for a bit and talking with raylee, I climbed on board for the 80 mile trip back. The back to back trips gave me some intial impressions of the differences between the 2011 s1000rr and the HP4. And there are some distinct differences. I'll get a better handle on things when I can have some fun instead of varying rpms and gears.

The dynamic suspension on this bike is amazing. Other manufacturers will be copying it and including in on their bikes. She's just... smooth. Gonna take her up to Washington Cycle Works to get the sag set after first service. But she already feels planted everywhere.
