Default Good price on CBR?

2006 1000RR
in 100% mint condition cosemetically
New tires
5000 miles

Only odd thing really is that it was blue/yellow and the guy changed to the red/black scheme with the ebay fairings. I saw in person and it looks great (the fit and paint) but not sure the long haul with these. I was thinking of heatshielding the insides if I bought it.

Anyways price is $5700, was gonna offer $5500.
Thanks

it might be a good deal but usually those fairings are put on after a bike has been on its side

and you need to low ball a bit for your first offer maybe 5k

Is there a sure fire way to tell if the frame is damaged without removing the fairings? How will it feel when driving? Thanks

In a situation like that, you should definitely be having the owner remove the fairings and allow you to inspect the frame and look for general signs of fall damage.

You also might just ask him straight up, if he's an honest person he'll give it to you straight up and it's that much more you know without an in-depth investigation.

Find I shop you trust, if the owner is legit and you have cash in hand he should have NO problem riding the bike up to your shop and having them look it over. I do that on all used bikes I buy. Im not going to buy a lemon with a burned out clutch or someone that never changed the oil on the bike.

I agree with all of the above.

The fairings are rarely changed for change of color scheme. That is what paint is for.

I would make an offer much lower than yours too. I would have started at $5000.00 as well. Go up from that price.

Taking a used bike to a shop to be looked at is as best as you can do with a used motorcycle. If the shop charges you a nominal fee (somewhere between $25 and $100) to check out the bike, think of it as well spent if they tell you the bike is garbage, or if the bike is a good buy.

If the buyer really wants your money and if it is an honest sell for him, then both of you shouldn't have any problems making the deal.

Good luck!

Assuming it checks out, does it sound like a good price based on the condition and mileage? I will offer $5000 and ask him to take to Broward Motorsports (south FL). They charge $100 to do a full inspection.

Should I worry about the fairings cracking or the paint messing up or is that not common? Thanks

Also I dshould say he originally had an asking price of $6000, so im thinking $5000 is too much of a low ball?

Low ball is the start of haggling. If he's serious about selling it, he won't just tell you off. He'll respond with a different offer and you go from there.

yes you should worry about cracking fairings
if they're aftermarket then it's a real posibility

you'd have to find somebody with those specific fairings to get an idea about the odds on them doing it in your case
