Default Is this a good deal?

A freind of mine wants a bike now that he's ridden mine.
He saw this on line and was considering it.
I went to the place with him and cosmetically the bike looks, sounds, and even runs fine
Brakes seem fine, and throttle is very responsive
Is there anything I should tell him to specifically look for when buying a used bike?

I would say its not a bad deal, but not a great deal. Just your average pricing for a bike. Offer up 3500 IMO

I assume a bike being salvaged means it was completely wrecked or something?
Like it was in an accident ahd the insurance company thought it was cheaper to total it out instead of geting it fixed?

Well alot of times its alot cheaper to total a bike out then to replace everything. I believe it doesn't take much to total a bike considering the prices of OEM fairings and all the little misc. pieces.

not always. many people believe this to be the only reason a bike gets a salvaged title which helps to perpetuate the myth. the truth is to salvage out a bike takes considerably less damage then you migh think. depending on the bike the "book" value it goes for in your area it can be as simple as a right side mid and lower and a head light assembly.

insurance companies look at what the cost will be to fix it using brand new parts and paying labor to have them installed. so this will either return in a check for you to either fix it or they will salvage out the bike and usually allow you to buy it back.

also if a bike is really stolen and recovered with missing fairings and parts that is another way most bikes get salvaged. personally i have no issue with a salavaged title bike as long as i check it over and make sure its in good enough shape. i trust my judgement.

However the salvage designation on the title is permanent and it severely limits the people who will buy it. you never are quite sure how much damage was done or the competency of the guy who put it back together.....
