Gloves
I only have about 1000 nmiles of street riding under my belt, so I'm not really sure how long gloves are supposed to last. I have a pair of Joe Rocket Phoenix gloves with the CF over the knuckles, padding on the fingers, and leather palms. They are comfortable to wear even in the summer, but I'm not too happy with how long they've lasted. I can already tell the leather is cheap because it's starting to fade and look "thin" if you know what I mean. I think I paid $40 for them so I'm not that upset, but next time I'll probably go with something else.

oh god not joe rocket
my first set of "good" riding gloves was joe rocket, had a very light crash where my palm scraped the ground a very little and the whole palm of the glove ripped out (and I mean ripped COMPLETELY OUT)
I don't even think the other hand even touched the ground but somehow half of the stitching came out in two of the fingers
i swear they use cheap *** leather and even crappier stitching in everything they make, breathe hard on that stuff and it falls apart
absolute CRAP! the alpinestars gloves i've replaced those with (granted they are a good bit more expensive) have been through 2 heavy duty crashes (they got plenty of pavement scraping time) and they are still as good as new, they look scuffed up but all the stitching and leather is still in good condition
I will NEVER buy anything Joe Rocket again, PERIOD
thats all i got to say

i never had good luck with rocket or icon. not sure what model rockets i had, but they seemed to wear out very quickly with normal wear. no crashes. seemed like the leather just fell apart. the icons i had were the timax shorts. they were some heavy leather but the feel was vague. so thick feeling that it gave me the impression of numb fingers. and the wrist opening was way too large (maybe it was just me?).
i've had a-star shorts and gauntlets. even went down in the shorts and they were incredible. the leather seemed softer than the others which made feeling very good. they were ugly as hell after going down but they didn't come apart. i would recommend a-star to anyone.
