My gf opts for the "not at all". She drives an 04 Beetle. I terrify her when I'm forced to drive it.
I already told her, and she agreed, the way she jumps in a cage and screams at the slightest far miss there's no0 way in Hell she's ever getting on the back. Riding is about confidence and it takes her 5 minues (no joke) to parallel park in a 3 car length spot.

Get her an open face lid. Right around the 5th broken nose she might get the idea 
. Failing that take everyones advice and buy her a ride. Worked for me. Only negative side effect being you might end up spending your spare time customizing her ride instead of yours......
