Default Food Snobs

Here'sa thread I started on chowhound.com this morning. It was pulled within 5 minutes. I just joined this site yesterday, and this was only my second post:

YOUR POST
Food Snobs
You know who you are. You would rather eat at that hole in the wall place that hasn't changed their menu in 50 years, or the overpriced "gourmet" restaurant in place of a chain restaurant like a Carrabba's or Ruby Tuesday, which actually has good food. Why do you think that is? Does your elitist attitude stem from your own insecurities? Why can't you just enjoy the food (from time to time) at a big restaurant chain's local location? Are you really spoiled by good independently owned and operated places, or are you just trying to act more sophisticated? Did you not grow up eating mac n' cheese, hamburgers and hot dogs like most other red-blooded Americans? Are your tastes now really that sophistocated? Think about it.
I know, the menu hasn't changed at the hole in the wall because it's good, and the high-end place really is worth it. Sometimes, that's right, but I feel as if many of us need to come down off our high horses when it comes to food.

Hi madgreek, you've been sent the following by a Chowhound moderator:
Welcome to Chowhound. Our mission is narrow and specific- to share tips on where to find great chow. Your post (below) wasn't likely to further that goal. In addition, calling other posters snobs with elitist attitudes is not the best way to introduce yourself to our community.
Please review our posting guidelines at http://www.chowhound.com/topics/367605 and bear in mind that we reserve the right to remove posts at our discretion, without notice of explanation.

...my response:

Hey, I just figured it would spark some lively conversation. The topic is interesting. Besides, I posted in the "General" section, so it didn't need to have anything to do with where to find the best food. Thanks for the response though. I was concerned that the site was moderated by robots. I'll try to stay non-confrontational in the future, I was just feeling out the forum.

Was I really out of line?

Being your second post... I'd say it was stirring the pot a little early. You hadn't been on the site long, so you weren't able to get much of a chance to "Feel out" the people on the board itself. Who knows, it may have just been the moderators opinion, not the opinion of the forum as a whole... so it may STILL not be something that gives you a real "feel" for it. Also, since the moderator did point out you being relatively new, it makes me think that, given you had some "Time" under your belt, it would have been treated differently.

Also, if I saw a post like this on any forum from a new member with no "lurking" time, and only 2 posts, I'd assume it was just some "punk" looking to start trouble. Go go internet gangsta's! j/k. So again, it was a little too much to early, in my opinion, but had you worded it a little differently (since, when you read over it, it looks like you're attacking the whole community, and only when you try to take your side of the post do you see that you're really only caling out to the "elitists", to whom you called snobs... which, since nobody knows you, it's unlikely that they will understand HOW you ment it), it might have sparked the interest you wanted and started good conversation.

Anyways... there ya go, my opinion!

Hmm very good site. Next time you visit, do you mind asking which mushroom would lend itself better to a red wine demi glaze when serving tenderlion. ****ake or portobello?
cheers.
