There have been two deaths caused by idiots stringing rope or cables across roads that I can remember.

One was on a highway that became a local access road when a new highway was built. Someone in the area decided he was tired of people using 'his' road and strung a thin cable across it. The result was a decapitated rider.

The other at a rodeo. Rodeo organizers arranged for a motocross type demo between events. A couple cowboys were so disturbed at that they strung a rope across the track. No decapitation, but the rider's injuries were fatal.

There's something about people who ride horses. I've been cussed at when walking my bike past riders or when I've pulled aside and shut down to let a group of riders by on a trail. One group I met had put a tree across the trail on a blind corner. It wasn't there when I went up the trail. Fortunately I was just out for a slow putt and was able to stop. Very tempting to go back up the trail and raise some cain with them, but good sense won the day.

One of the best bike roads (Old Pacific Highway), some of locals got sick of howling bikes going past on a Sunday arvo & starting putting gravel on some of the tighter bends. Local Council must have thought it was a good idea & poured bitumen & gravel mix on the entire stretch of road & left it that way. Called it the Scenic Route & lowered the limit to 70 kph (43mph). 1st time I ever saw these type of signs put up & they still get nicked as souvenirs.

....Pace is just jealous ... he prolly had a white collar and a Kingswood wagon back then ??? lol

I drove a lot a Holden Kingswoods back then, no white collar though. Drove Taxi's (Holdens & Fords), lived in Leichhardt & happily married (or so I thought) to wife no 2.
Closest I ever came to owning Kingswood was sh*tbox FB station wagon.
