Firefighters?????
I am a vol. firefighter and I am going through the process to get hired for a full time paid department. I was just wondering how many other CBR riders here are firefighters? paid or vol.
Hmm...I aspire to be a firefighter. I'm an explorer just training with the dept right now. I went through an academy. Trying to get my EMT and then become a medic. My ultimate goal is to be a FF/PM....One day I will....one day...
Im in milwaukee wisconsin im at a paid on call department right now and am hoping to be full time somewhere soon. Im fire 1 cert. im in fire 2 right now and im in EMT-b, im also in the process of getting my Fire Science degree.
Im going to to test in montanna june 3, and colorado in the fall to take their tests.
I guess Vegas is going to throw out another list this fall too.
Its a crazy game to play so many people want the damn jobs its redic. its hard now compared to years past. minorities and women are getting points for nothing and its sad because i have nothing against them (my parents are bothe firefighters for milwaukee), But the most smart and Fit person should get the job but sadly its not that way.
Good luck Bro's

My time as a firefighter was amazing! Drive big trucks, full of gear, makin hella noise. Bustin' down doors with a huge axe ("Firemans' Key") and my all time favorite thing was torching huge tracts of National Forest. The people were the best! Totally retarded until we smelled smoke, then we were Einsteins. Heli-tac and smoke jumping will worry your friends and family. Getting up close and personal with a major confligration can be very life affirming. Slurry itches. It helps if you can impress a big dog, "who you know" can be as valuable as what you know. I got lucky, I was just looking for dangerous jobs, not a career. I say do whatever you have to do to achieve the goal, it was worth it for me. Just be careful what you wish for and look up!

I went to take the general knowledge test for Charlotte in NC and there were 1500 people there to take the test that day. I guess it is a highly sought after job.

You win cause 20,000 people is way more than 1,500 people.
I didn't think I would make it this far and now I am trying to workout all the time and eat better just to make it past the next test. I'm not in great physical condition, but I am better than others that I had seen applying for the job.

Been a vol. for 6 years, fire and EMS (In the second busiest all volunteerdepartment in the country).Currently working on getting my paramedic. Might go paid after I get that, we will see.
