Default Feet up?

Am I crazy to think that people dragging their feet for a half block need to practice more? Watching a couple guys with bikes at work (1 gixxer and a 600RR) they've got their feet hanging like they're scared they're gonna tip over. The way I was taught is that once I'm starting to cleanly accelerate, get my feet on the pegs and keep them there. While getting my bike back into shape, I've been seeing a lot of what look like bad habits (lack of gear a serious one here in Philly). But the feet thing really bugs me especially since my coworkers are doing it.

I mean if they snap their ankle on something, I might have to cover their shift

This is pretty common for people when their 1st learning to ride. It's the ones that still have the wobbles as they take off on their big bore Sports bike's or Cruisers that freak me out.

I do it from time to time just to keep me legs stretched out, especially in stop and go traffic. Nothing to do with my riding abilities.

I'd rather ride a Harley than do overtime.

I've got to remember everything I've forgotten over the past 2 decades of driving a car instead of riding a bike. Someone should start a list of bad rider habits so ppl can make sure not to do them
