Default Ever had an awesome night like this??

So tonight I went to dinner with my mom, her boyfriend and my uncle from FL who i haven't seen in years. We went to a really famous Pizza place in New Haven (Pepe's) right in the middle of the dinner rush, because waiting in line is kind of part of the experience of going there.

So my moms Boyfriend is like " this line is long enough, i want some wine... is there a packy around?" and the guy behind us points him towards one a few doors down. he comes back with a bottle of wine and 2 beers for me and my uncle. he had some extra cups for the wine and gave one to the guy who told us about the store as a thank you. Now there are also these two women behind him and one chirps up (jokingly) saying she wants some too. so naturally we give her some.

We all end up talking and deciding that we will all eat together instead of separate, because the one dude was solo on a business trip, and the two women were just a hoot. turns out the women are a couple (25 and 43 from Colorado) and one (Pam) owns 6 brick oven pizza places at home, all modeled after Pepe's. in fact, the reason they are there is because her girlfriend had never been to the place that inspired her to open her restaurants. She had been from the area growing up, and missed good brick oven pizza.

Well we're eating having a great time shooting the **** and all learning about each other, when this old guy walks up and says "hey, can you guys keep it down" (he was joking) turns out it was Pam's UNCLE... AND COUSIN! they thought it was her from across the restaurant and just wanted to bust on her. so they join us... and suddenly our little night out of 4 people turned into 9 people and just an over all crazy time.

It's amazing how people can just connect like that some times. we were all talking like we had known each other our whole lives. We all exchanged contact info, and fully intend to keep in touch but who knows how that will work out.

So P.S. if you're in Colorado, i have a great recommendation for a Pizza place!!

Sorry for the ramble

My best night was when I met Danny Carey (TOOL, Pigmy Love Circus; drummer) & Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr Bungle; Lead Man) the same night (Patton just so happened to be kickin' it backstage). Got both their autographs and chilled with the band (pigmy love circus) for about two hours after to show...

I love genuine New Haven pizza, going to have some this Saturday!!

I usually hit up Modern though so we don't have to wait in line, and "Bar" also has real good brick oven pizza...

The pizza place in colorado is called Proto's Pizza. they have one in denver, one in boulder, and a few other towns i went to the website and it seems pretty fancy actually, but she says its better and i believe her. its real brick oven, so expect thin crust and burnt edges, but thats the best part.

I agree with Jfunk... modern is better than Pepe's, and no line. And bar has that Awesome mashed potato pizza, so i hit them up occasionally
