Default Ducati 999 vs CBR600RR

I got these number from Sport Rider.

Quarter Mile
Ducati 999 10.43sec $17,995
CBR 600RR 10.49sec $8799

It is close enough to say the 600RR is just as quick as the Ducati 999.

you really can't compare two great handling bikes on drag strip times alone.

Hardly. These bikes were designed to corner [quickly]. Quarter-mile times say nothing about that.

Well its not only that.... the lap times on the 600RR were faster than the 999 also.

I thought that was interesting but maybe the quarter mile times don't really have much to do with the quickness of a bike. [sm=imsmilin.gif]

Yep, he's right. I have those same sportrider issues. The v-twins are about as fast as the new 600s both on the road course and on the drag strip. I'd take the ducati over the cbr if they were offered to me though. Its got something to do with big twin power over a bike that gets lost in the parking lot. Of course i'd take a 996 over the 999 too. I liked the style of the 996 better. Check out the issue with the 999R though. Its got a posted 10.10 quartermile and costs just under $30k. Ha....
