The statistic I've heard on the commercials is that just one beer increases the risk of being involved in a crash four-fold.

 

definitly, it's not a smart move, we've more than likely all lost a rider close to us because of the lack of attention from other driver's, we all have to constantly watch our surrondings way more on a bike than in any other vehicle, you dont need alchol to effect your timing or reaction ,

 

I see Harleys parked at bars all the time

I go to the bar with my bike but I'll get a water or a coke.

 

Yeah, but you know that's not what they're there for. If you're from around Pennsylvania, and know about Yeungling, they have a commercial of a bunch of leather-clad Harely dudes proclaiming their love for light lager.

Plus 'bikers' are synonymous with bars and bar fights.

 

Yea ... and? I'm sure a lot of straight line sport bike riding ninjas are also frequenters.

Bikers and bar fights are for the most part Hollywood and not real life. In real life there's smart people and there's people who drink and ride. It doesn't matter what type of bike the former or latter are riding.

 

I'm speaking from MY experience. I've NEVER seen a sport bike parked at a bar. I ALWAYS see cruisers parked at bars. I never said that people with sport bikes don't go to bars, but I am saying I've never seen someone ride a sport bike to a bar.

 

The bartender that worked at a bar I used to got to did the drink and ride thing. One night he was too drunk and his friends took his keys. He cabbed it home to get his spare set of keys and decided to retrieve the bike so it didn't stay in the parking lot overnight. On the way home he clipped a curb and was highsided into a light standard. The bike was totalled. He lost three toes, smashed his pelvis and femur and spent several months in hospital. His injured leg is about two inches shorter than the other. He no longer rides.

 

It sounds to me that he stopped the wrong thing.

 

He was only inches away from making the Darwin Awards... I think he is still slogging booze.
