Default Dog tags?

Hey guys, question about wearing dog tags. I am a Navy vet, been out for 9 years, due to diabetes. I am VERY proud of my time in, and very supportive of the service members past and present. With that said, I always wore my dog tags when I was in, because I also had a medical ID tag, (dog tag). Being diabetic, and having the medical ID tag is important, for me anyway.

I know, it is probably a personal preference, but just looking for input, from other service members really, if it would be stupid or not? I know having a medical ID is important, but would still wearing that and my old dog tags be kind of tacky? I don't think there is a military rule against it, and they are not the bling, bling, fashion statement type that some posers wear. Just curious for opinions.

Thanks, Jim

i wear mine from time to time. you are a vet, that means you have the right to wear them.

if they didnt want you to wear them they would take them before discharge.

Do you plan on wearing them out or tucked? Have a good friend that got his white gold dipped while in egypt, he still wears them and hes been out for several years. I only wear mine while im deployed or in the field, never in a Garrison environment....

txs, I would wear them tucked, I don't believe in wearing them as a fashion statement. Just my personal preference. I am mostly going to wear them because of the medical ID, which is a black dog tag with the red medical symbol. But I thought, as my way to show my personal support to the troops, I would wear my dog tag along with my Med ID.

I wear mine when. Its kinda like a peice of my motorcycle gear. If im in a wreck and bleeding out atleast they know my blood type quickly.

Also i googled it but i couldnt find anything. Ive heard before that wearing it on the outside of your shirt(civilian clothes) is disrespectful because the only time its outside of your clothes is when your dead. Anyone else ever hear of this or is that BS?
