I love dogs, I cant get enough of them..

I prefer pitbulls, they are one of the sweetest dogs you can get and they will go to great lengths to please you. They are so loyal and are great with children, they are always ready to play and to make you happy. They are great pets I'm not the emotional type but I think I would cry if one of them passed away. I have had so many fond memories with them.

However, they come with alot of ignorant people. I hate the fact that when I walk my dog in public and someone comes up to them and starts petting them --- than asks what kind of dogs are these --- and I reply putbulls, all of the sudden they dont want to pet them anymore...
Heres a video about them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxWm9oaU9DI

And heres my two dogs Tyson and Lexus. The pictures were taken like 2 1/2 years ago and they have grown.

Crash is the Border Collie and Nubb is the Australian Cattle dog/Blue Heeler. Both were dumped by breeder who could not sell them. Crash was one day from being put down. Nubb was found wandering around in a field.

hey dr pepper, i had a question about pit bulls, since you know more about them then i do.

I know without a doubt ill be getting a rottie, but i do also like pit bulls... since we may have two dogs when we get our own place (me and my girl) we were considering a pitbull for the second. I always like the dark grey ones alot... theres on in the video you posted and for some reason i just love their look... i was on cesar millans site (the dog whisperer, a very good show for any dog lover/owner if you havent seen it) and he has one that his favorite pitbull "Daddy" is raising and he is the dark grey color. I found that these are called "blue pit bulls" so i looked up some blue pit bull breeders and was kinda surprised at what i found.

i found this site and when i looked at their studs, they look like this
http://www.ultimatebluepitbulls.com/studs.html
which is differnt than what i was expecting. I know that these are pit bullls, but why do they look like they are on steroids? Is this the way they are supposed to look? Like going by AKC standards, or is this a different type of pitbull? I like the... idk "normal" looking ones, the ones tath look like they can actually walk, and arents 3 inches off the ground. I didnt know if you, or anyone else who knew more about pit bulls, could give me some insight on this.

Thank you in advance

Had shepherds for years. Here's Darek the dog laying outside next to the trailer last summer. He just turned 8, weighs 130#. Full name is Darek Vom Godinghofer Weg (born in Germany).

i love german shepards... i guess i love all dogs, but shepards are probably my second favorite. I will be getting a rottie for sure, because of my history with the one i had when i was younger... but ive always considered getting a german shepard for my second dog. They are the working type like the rottweiler... incredibly smart and loyal, and you can literally trust them with your life, just like a rottie.

That is a very beautiful dog btw.

Thumbs up

All great Dogs!!!!! Look beautiful and happy!!
Here are our hounds old and new.

Sadly Muffin passed around 3 weeks ago, after 11 happy years. She was old and loved a little too much, well fed and over weight.
Daisy has been with us about a year and a half. She was distraught.

My daughter wanted to get a pet to help ease Daisy's loneliness. She said she was getting a cat so it wouldn't seem like she was replacing Muffin. We went to the pound. ( we do for all our dogs.) The girls wanted to say hi to the dogs,

Rosco was with a litter that looked like they were brought in a week early. The saw Rosco and the rest is history. Daisy is amazing with him, so I guess he picked us.

Those are considered pitbulls but they arent pure breed. They are a mix of certain breeds to make them look more muscular, its usually a mix between mastiffs, bull terriers, and others dogs. The usual size of pitbulls are around 40-60 lbs and a bit taller than those in your link. There isnt anything wrong with those pitbulls jsut that they arent considered a pure breed, the blue pitbull in my picture isnt a pure pitbull. Not every dog is right for their owner, pitbulls require alot of patients and time. They get really excited easily and have alot of stamina but with proper training and exercise they will turn out to be great dogs. They get alot of bad rap, but what people dont understand is that they are like any other dog. My dogs are great with children and adults alike.

So if you do consider getting a pitbull stop by your local shelter there are alot of pitbulls wanting homes. Also look up if they are banned in your area. If you ask any vet about these dogs they all will tell you that they are the nicest and friendliest dogs that come in. You may want to do some research on these dogs, and always buy/adopt a dog locally.

Here are some healthy puppies so you get a idea of what to look for, also if you buy from a local ad see if they have the parents around usually thats how they will look like when they grow up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHfzrEhUrrE (not my video)

This is what a pitbull should look like (just a random picture off the internet):

Beautiful dogs everyone!! I too LOVE dogs (cats... not as much, sorry). IMHO they're one of the best pets you could have... won't find a better or more loyal friend. Much like the OP, I always had dogs growing up, and when I was in HS I had a Doberman mix that I absolutely loved to death. His name was Dexter, about 85lbs and the absolute sweetest dog ever, and also very defensive of me. If strangers came over he would just sit there and watch them like a hawk, perfectly quiet, but if they made any sudden moves he would let them know he was watching them (aka don't try anything). He was soooooo smart.... loved him to death. Then we ran into a bunch of issues at home and had to move out quick. I was down in Florida at the time visiting my dad, and my mom called me and said she had to get rid of the dogs.... absolutely broke my heart. That was back in 1999 and I still miss Dexter, and I've wanted another dog ever since but haven't been able to have one in my living situations. Then in 2008 I was finally able to get another dog, and as luck would have it, I was able to rescue one from a very negligent home. A buddy of mine in Atlanta had seen this dog down the street from him, tied to the bumper of a van with a piece of rope so tight around it's neck it was nearly choking. Dog was left tied to the van 24/7, he saw it for weeks and weeks, and never any food or water out there for it, and obviously underweight. He tried getting animal control out there for weeks but they wouldn't do anything. Then one night he was out working on his car, comes out from underneath and is greeted by this dog from down the street with a chewed off piece of rope hanging from it's neck

And that's how I got Piglet. As far as we know she a Boxer/German Shepherd mix, and possibly some Rottie as well. But her coloring is all Shepherd and personality is all Boxer

Passed out, lol

This was back in March 2008, first night I brought her home and after a bath to clean her up some. Told ya she was skinny and underweight... only about 40 lbs here. Vet estimated her to be about 6-9 months old at the time

Boy was she hungry! After eating properly she gained about 20lbs within a couple of months and filled out and looking much better. 61lbs now and she's still very slim but not underweight

She was still kinda scared and timid with everything that had been going on, but I still got a smile out of her before the night was over, heheh

I absolutely love her to death..... soooooo much personality it's unreal. Very smart too! She pouts and grunts just like a little kid when she doesn't get her way (and every single time will sit down on my foot and look directly away from me and just stare, won't look at me, just sit there and pout), hahah. She got the name Piglet because she snores and snorts in her sleep. She sleeps in bed with me every night and sometimes I've gotta nudge her..."Piggy shut up, I'm tryin to sleep!"... LOL. She had some pretty big shoes to fill after Dexter, but I think she's filled them just fine
