deals gap
First time up there and it was awesome....never new how far she could lay over. Im sure most of you guys have been up there before and know its really dangerous. Well just here to back that up more, on the way back one of my buddies was coming around corner 8 I think and hit the white line and lowsided into the ravine.(bout 30 ft down) hes fine so its kinda funny cuz when i came around the corner and saw his face as he was crawling out it was priceless. Kinda like a o sh!% face. By the way he just bought his bike a few hours ago.(06 suzuki 400 sm) He was an experienced rider to. So I had to go to the tail of the dragon and find someone with a truck. His radiatior had a nice hole in it, but nothing else surprisingly! Took it to a shop and the guy tried welding it but its aluminum so no luck. So after an hour or so of trying to fix it he mixes up some jb weld and says aight man have a nice day. WERE LIKE WHAT? no money? We all thought that was pretty cool. It was easily worth 100 bucs in time spent. We then had a two hour ride back to gainesville. So were like crap I hope this thing makes it. No problems! Other than that it was an amazing place. Beautiful to. I would love to live there.
Ne of you guys got interesting stories?

i leaqrned how to ride there, lived in robinsville 1111 i.u.gap. bad a$$ place to ride, i have a few parts on the tree of shame! it is the best place to ride i have ever been on. the area where you get up on the top of the mount's is so beautiful it takes your breath away, i'm going back in a few months t ride it again, its been about 9 or 10 years since i was on it, so cant wait for a week on the tail.....
I was there for a long weekend, lots of people went down, including an almost fatal head on between a harley and a sport bike. sport bike went really wide, crossed the yellow and boom, doneski. But, the dragon isn't the attraction in my mind. the Cherohala skyway is where its at. huge sweeping high speed turns, its like 80 miles end to end and every single mile is amazingly fun.
dgml as in the shop? it was the only one when leaving deals gap going i think south on 129. ya it was beautiful...weres the skyway is it close? were headed back up there memorial day weekend :-) and ya i almost got my head taken off by a s2000. there was alot of um up there hogging up the road.
I don't remember exactly how to get there. i seem to remember taking 28 (intersects 129 RIGHT at Deals Gap Hotel) into Robinsville then i think it was a right onto 143... there is a gas station there, you will definately want to fill up. Wait... just found this map... i HIGHLY recomend taking the extra 20 mile jaunt...

definately one of the best loops i have ever riden. and definately film if you get a chance, some really good overlooks and a reallt nice place to eat after you come out of the mountains right by the river.
