Default Deal or No Deal!!??

Guys

I hope that everyone is doing well today. Welp, I am still in the market for a CBR. I have searched came close to one and the guy called me today as he sold it right under my nose.

Well I just saw a the following and would like to know what I should do:

2006 Honda CBR 1000RR
Color:Black
Title: Clear
4k Miles
Full Two Brothers Exaust
Tinted Windscreen

Good:
LOW miles for year bike
Clear title
Exaust

Bad:
Was in storage for awhile
Fuel Pump is out
Front Tire needs replaced
Front Shock may need to be replaced
Price: $5000!!!!

What do you guys think?
Skip it? Does this sound like a money pit since it has been in storage?
I really want a 954 to be honest with you

Thanks

Sorry
It is a FULL Jardine Carbon Fiber Exaust

I have been looking and looking for 954. They are either too expensive, just right price and they get sold or too far away from me as I am in the Carolinas.
LOL!

Default Me AGAIN...

Guys

I am determined to get a CBR...
Here is the latest (I love to pick these owner's brains)

1. 2003 CBR 1000RR
33k Miles on the ODO
2 Brothers Full exhaust
Chromed out
Seats may need replacing
BAD: Motor was replaced due to a knocking/stuck piston. The new 954 motor he SAYS has 10k miles on it asking $4500. I talked him down to $4150

2. 2001 CBR 929
34k miles
2 Brother Full Exhaust
sprokets/aftermarket chain
BAD: He says the front forks MAY need replacing.
Asking $4000 I talked him down to $3500 CASH

What should I do? Should I say the hell with both?????

Thanks guys!

In my opinion, I like to go with something that's stock and never altered before. Like you said, "he SAYS" the new motor has 10k but who really knows? It's hard to trust people you don't know to have done the work they say or have done it correctly. I think for the year of the bikes you're looking at you could find a better deal out there. I only have an 02' f4i but I got it bone stock from the original owner last year with under 5k on it for $4,200. It's worth spending a little more for something you know is mechanically sound.

That being said, see if the guy with the 929 will let you have a mechanic look over the fork etc. before buying it. Sounds like a fair deal at a decent price.

I would say have the 929 checked out by a mechanic... It may just need new fork seals... If the forks check out there ya go that one has my vote as it gives you a lil extra cash to grab tires brakes and general maintenance

you can't put a 954 motor in a 1000rr. so the first one is a bogus ad if he said he replaced the 1000rr motor with a 954 one. it can't be done.

and $3500 is a bit too high considering the mileage on the 929 imo - especially if it needs work.

can i ask you a question? how comfortable are you doing work on your bike?

I love this site...
ok..the guy made a mistake, it is actually a 2003 954. But I must agree, changing the engine on it no telling what was done in correctly and $4500 is no pretty penny for something that has already been replaced.

The 929 with fork issues, the guy is WAY too eager to sell. He keeps texting me about it. When I am coming to get it. I do not know any personal mechanics. I think that would be a death trap. He says he is buying another bike. Something is up with that.

As I am literally typing this, I just got a text from 2 more people!! This is amazing. I am being patient as possible.

1. 2000 - 929 15k miles
Arkapovic exhaust
Red/White
$4500

2. 2002 954 REPSOL
Yoshi Full Exhaust
no other mods
selling because he is getting deployed
$5000 obo!!!!!!!
Just had maint done and everything he says.
*I THINK THIS MAY BE IT! A REPSOL!!!!
OMG

Trying not to be an impulse buyer you know?
Thank you everyone for answering my questions!!!

Regards

Armada
