Default Daily Driver bike

I just got a new job and it's a 100 mile round trip from my door and back. I have never had to drive this far before. I am looking at getting a bike that I can ride everyday even in a little rain. The supermoto will have to go along with a few others as I love it but it's tapped on the highway for that long. I am going to be on the highway 75% of the way and then through lansing. The hours are for 5pm to 3am.

If you could have a bike to ride to work and back what would it be? Be real here. A new 1krr is not what I am looking for. I have a nice CBR and am looking for something more comfy. I am getting to old and sore.

Has anyone owned an interceptor newer than 86 lol? I also looked at a ninja 650 today it seemed nice, as in cheap. What do you guys think of the aprilia? I looked at this bike today not sure if is up for hooliganism but it's a nice bike. Maybe a FZ6? I need some help picking one.

My dad has an 04 vfr. Very nice bike. Still a sport bike, but the ergos are great. I have a 01 f4i and the vfr is far more comfy for the long haul. It will probably be the next bike I buy. It looks great and rides nice.

It is not the fastest off the line, but you can load it down with gear and people and it handles well.

My dads rides everyday to work on it. He is always busting chops with the guys he works with how he is a bike riders and they are just bike owners.

100 miles a day means that you have to look at a bike that you can do most of the servicing yourself & something that is not going to eat tyres.
I used to do a 180 klm (112 miles) round trip every week day for around 9 years & that included long hauls on the freeway (although I took the secondary road most days for the ride home).
The things that got to me on the run, cold, rain & getting blown around in strong winds. I tried all types of bikes (traded in every two years). The one that I found the best for my daily commute was my Beemer twin. Shaft drive, easy on tyres & I could do all the maintenance myself & it had enough mumbo & presence on the road to get me passed any trouble. Not saying you should get a beemer, but something that will let you get to & from work in COMFORT (I'll say that again Comfort) & not have you forking out big money for tyres & so on every couple of months

I would say something like an SV 650 or if that is too sporty still, then by all means, get a cruiser. I learned on a cruiser and would ride one for a daily commuter if comfort was a major issue.

Again I say VFR, I'm partial to Honda. It uses sport tour tires and is easy to maintain, go check one out.
