Default Craigslist hustle-CK story how I got my blade

well as many of you know had to get rid of my bike....

this is more of how I hustled my way to get my bike...

first off ive rode dirt my whole life rather its on a dirtbike or bmx two wheels is in my blood.
well when I was around 15 I sold my last dirtbike to save cash for a car and pretty much feel out of riding all together....

well about 4 years ago or so I had a buddy with this 1985 cr250r for sale so I bought it for maybe 300 or so ...I didnt have any pics so this one is from google img...

well I love the shet out of this bike intill all of the electronic shet started to fail one piece after another

so the CR got my blood flowin again and by this time im on the hunt for a newer bike and around tax return time I bought/invested $2000 into this 2003 YZ250 that was in mint cond...
funny thing is the guy had to have his dad sell it cuz he went to jail(thats why I sold my f4i to stay outta jail)

so now I have had this badass bike for awhile now and took great care of it and a few peeps I ride with love it so much on day I got an offer I couldnt refuse...

I was offered this...
2003 Z400 that I was there when he bought it and he paid $2400 for it ...

I told him no at first but and luckly I did cuz the next day he came over with this 1999 YZ125(says he paid$1300 for it) he would also throw in if I traded my 03 yz250 to him....not the best pic but I had a blast that day...

so now thats a 2003 z400($2400)and a 1999 YZ125($1300) he would trade for my 2003 YZ 250 that I paid 2gs for......and so I had to do it,just seemed to good to pass up...

so at this point I have a badass quad and a nice 125 im really happy and satisfied (for now)

well the craigy addict I am I seen this 2001 yz 250 on craigslist for sale/trade for a 125...im like why the hell would anyone go from a 250 to a 125 but anyway so I call the guy up and it was his bike but his kid wants to start rind andhe didnt want his kid on a 250...makes sense

so I bring the 125 out there and seen his 250 made a deal.I gave him $200 and my 125 for his 2001 yz 250!!!god that was a good trade cuz even though I love my 125 I love the power bands on them 250(who doesnt)

so now I have a quad and a lil older than I had yz 250 and pretty satisfied.....
so im back on craigy and what do I see for $2500/trades...its a 2002 CBR f4i
Im the kind of guy that will throw a bone at someone and see if they bite...well thats exactly what I did
I called him up told him I had a 2003 Z400 to trade if he was interested he said hell yead so we set up a time to meet

and what do you know ole boi traded me straight up and I was so nervous that the f4i would blow up or something .I just couldnt figure out why he would want to trade but he said he never rode it anymore and just wanted something diff....ok whatever

well she never blew up hell I put over 10xxx miles on that bike over the season and if I had that quad I would ve rode it maybe if im lucky once a week(best trade of my life!!!)

and now cuz of some dumb choices ive mad im back to square one rite now sold the f4i sold my 01 yz250 and come this tax return season ill be doing this shet all over again

moral of the story get out there and hustle and good things happen.....good luck

LJ - I may be interested if the price is right ......

a little side note.....after I got the 03 yz250 a few months later I traded the 1985 cr250 straight up for a 2003 JR50 just like I had when I was 5

and this is how I get him to ride by himself...by bribing him wiht a dollar..lol

me and him shredding

and my old bike

and btw he was 2 when these were taking and hes going to be 3 in jan and he can already ride better than his old man

thanks LJ...
I did alot of research and for the most part ppl said to get em started on a dirt bike cuz when they wreck the bike goes one way and the rider most of the time goes another...plus I want him riding dirt bikes over quads anyway I figure if he can handle a bike than he can handle any quad imo...
..and you dont have to worry bout a heavy *** 4 wheeler landing on them /rolling on them...

I just set the screw to the throttle to where they can only go about walking speed

on top of that the lil quads are more expensive than lil dirt bikes

I also have got him a badass specialized bmx bike for his 2nd bday and since I know u shredd bikes I thought youd appreciate that...

then the addiction started ,id ride him around on my bike and its been ongoing ever since

then for xmas got him his first moto helmet

not the best pic of his bike but trust me its a full blown bmx bike.....wish I had something like that when I was his age ....he's spoiled

and then took him to his first motocross this past year he love it ...he still talking bout it

Hey cool story Crash. I have a sort of similar story as to how my boyfriend got his 2001 RC51.
I have always been riding too, ever since I was little. I'd ride with my Dad on the bikes and stuff he'd build. So now, grown up a little, my boyfriend does the same thing. He gets insane deals on craigslist then fixes them up as toys. And so he is how I learned to ride anything dirt. Now that stuff is insane fun! Before I got my '01 F4i all we did was ride dirt.
I rode an '01 Yamaha Blaster 250, BUT we got a 240 big bore kit and sent of the top end to get ported and polished. Then we pretty much re-did everything else, so there was nothing stock on my quad except the frame! haha And we were riding dunes that day so they're a lil sandy.

And he rides and '08 Suzuki LTR 450, also sandy dunes and he had paddle tires, Lucky! haha

Sorry I don't have good pics of jus the quad itself, so thats him jumping it at a different track. haha
I was actually able to keep up with the 450s on my quad in a race. But I could totally out jump them n stuff on any track! haha
Then we had some pocket bikes that we fixed up n would set out a lil track with cones n play mini-moto! haha

And this lil KTM for fun!

But when we rode on the street I could only ride passenger with him on his TL 1000R.

But that wasn't enough, I wanted my own bike. So I went and did MSF then got my '01 F4i a bit later after that. So, then all we did was ride street n track days. Quads jus sat in the garage.
Well, then he decided he wanted a new street bike, and he loved my F4i so much he wanted a Honda too. So he did his craigslist hustlin' thing and bye bye Blaster and TLR for an '01 RC51!!!

But we still have this lil Honda XR80 to play with. It was also a craigslist hustle n fix-up.

So I guess that's a summary of how we got one of our blades! haha
I just thought it was cool how your story was so similar to mine, I just couldn't resist postin it up! haha

Awsome story Tawny....isnt it nerve wrecking when you wheel and deal....

I love that 450r I would love to get one but I need a blade first

and that TLR is one sexy *** bike imo

and heres a pic of that 125 that I rebuilt too...

I rent and my landlord has the messiest garage ever!!!!

I also got a 1998 cr125 for $300 that needed a new top end and went and bought it and I was back on craigy and seen an ad that a guy wanted to buy a cheap 125 that needed work so I called him and he came out and bought the 125 for $500!!!!! $200 profit just for pickling it up .......no pics cuz I didnt have it long enough

I made this thread not to brag but maybe someone would read this and maybe get inspired to get out there and try to wheel and deal and dont be scared to call up ppl and just throw em a bone.....Tawny you and ur BF story is badass and good luck on W&D on craigy in the future and post up what ever you guys come up with....
