i just think it gets annoying how much that word gets thrown around, i personally could care less if im riding with people who are wearing shirts and a t-shirt. id rather ride responsibly with them than with someone geared up riding like a fool anyday

 

I think it was not too long ago (maybe the other day) that I did read a thread that somewhere in there it said that the word "squid" has been thrown around too much. I too could agree with that.

I can also see other peoples point of views on calling them a squid, if they pulled a "squid" move.

On the note of the people geared up, and riding irresponsible, honestly I hardly ever see that! Now I am not saying that it does not happen. But I seriously can not remember the last time I saw somebody that was actually geared up, doing stupid sh_t. Just wearing your helmet doesnt mean you are geared up to me.

I have found that the most people that go out and actually purchase full gear are obviously concerned about safety, and therefore know that there is a time and place for everything.

I'm a huge fan of wearing as much gear as I can comfortably wear / afford. But remember, you dont die from road rash. A squid to me is someone that is way to overconfident and lacks the basic skills needed to not die. I know plenty of squids that wear full gear. It doesn't really matter what you're wearing if you hit a car or wall or tree. The only gear that everyone should absolutely wear no matter what is a good helmet.

I'm not trying to be all anti-gear, but if you really think you won't get hurt if you wear the best gear in the world then you're kidding yourself.
