wow.... since this war began.. our dollar has hit the ****s.. just checked.. the canadian dollar is .02 weaker than us now.. wow.. i gain .02 for every dollar taken to canada.. SUCKS used to be .30 to the dollar..
I'm sure that all the border states are loving the influx of Canadian money buying up our goods. - Never seen so many Canadian plates in our little border town in my lifetime.
Stores and Hotels are loving it.
AND fromSept '07 through now the Canadian dollar was worth MORE than the US dollar...- Wonder how long until our pop machines stop rejecting Canadian quarters...

When our dollar became even recently this wasn't reflected in the cost of our goods. Angry, and albeit practical canadians, started flocking across the border in droves to capitalize on the same products offered at a more reasonable cost. For example: My new R6 is normally 12,500 here, and 9,500-9,800 in the States. Retailers argued that their already purchased merchandise couldn't be sold any cheaper or they wouldn't profit. This has started to change however. Having lost too much to cross border shopping, retailers have started to push "US PRICING". In fact, this is the reason I bought the new bike sooner than planned. The price dropped to 10,200 with a 400 dollar in store credit thus bringing it down to US pricing.
^^^ Makes perfect sense. They bought at a point when our dollar was higher, and are trying to sell when your dollar is higher. That is the way I play the stock market...buy high and sell low. [&:]
Did you check into just straight up picking one up in the US?- Did they give you any grief about warranties, etc. if you did purchase across the border?
I understand that SkiDoo (Bombardier) will not warranty your (canadian) snowmobiles if they were bought in the US due to the pricing differences...
Oh - and very nice choice - Never hit up a track yet (probably a few years later) but the R6 is supposed to be built 100% for track - you'll probably still be on your F4i on the streets - if not, I'm sure none of us would want to see that beautiful blue thing collecting dust!
Enjoy!

Not only will Bombardier not honour the warranty of Skidoos purchased in the States but they have threatened to revoke the licenses of dealerships selling to Canadians. Pretty sad considering they are a Canadian company, looks like I wont be buying one anytime soon. The new Rev XP chassis is pretty f-ing sweet though.
