i've done many many many many searches for 250s and they seem to all be dirtbikes...are dirtbikes even allowes on main roads and if they are are they safe to ride there. I know atvs tend to flip if they arent off road and i dont need to fall if it isnt my fault lol.

It's kawasaki that makes the 250 ninja and yes dirtbikes are street legal if they are ednuro style, in other words equipted with lights and turn signals. 500 wouldn't be a bad size to start on either. Maybe an EX500 by kawasaki or an older 600f cbr?

Theres a ton of great starter bikes and some great bikes that if you respect can offer a great ride too. Heres what I've found when I was looking for my 1st bike.

Greens are very noob friendly blue are still very good and red you should only take into concideration if you think you have the respect needed to not over do it.

If your lookin for a small sport bike, don't forget about the Aprilia RS50, RS125, and RS250. Although I am not sure if they ever brought the 125 stateside. The 50's are great for beginner's(top speed about 55-60mph a few add ons and make that 80mph) and the 250's will flat out move.
